I love the raw production. The guitar tone is sensational. Adam Raised A Cain might be my favourite Springsteen song. Some of it is a little too passionate, though that seems harsh. This is a very, very good album.

It's unmistakably a Bruce Springsteen album. 10 very typical Bruce Springsteen songs, some more famous than the others. The ballads and stories told here are pretty appealing, but I just don't really care much for Bruce Springsteen. I can't find any real fault in it, it's a perfect and well rock album by any objective measure. But Bruce was never really my thing and I doubt it will really be.

yeah it's a springsteen Abum

Hmm, this has a lot less pizzazz compared to the other Bruce Springsteen album. It still feels like he's trying to be general and not stand out too much.

Rated 2/10

Once again, Springsteen delivers a total nothingburger of an album. There’s absolutely nothing here musically, creatively, or lyrically. It’s completely devoid of anything interesting or attention grabbing. There’s also obviously no artistic intention here. It’s so plainly a corporate cash-grab of least-offensive-music-most-likely-to-get-listeners that it’s sickening.

1.0/5.0: Embarrassing

Rated 4/10

not sure if bruce is growing on me or if i actually liked this one slightly more than the others weve had from him but this is the most tolerable one so far. still not good but better

Rated 4/10

Badlands: non ricordavo che Springsteen si mangiasse così tanto le parole. Canzone solida, ma troppo bofonchiato.

Stile più country di quello che mi aspettavo e tante ballate.

Abbastanza noioso con qualche bel pezzo

Still don’t like Springsteen

Rated 10/10

I know this one and I know it well. It was the first Boss album I got into in 2006 when I first met my husband. It broadened my musical tastes and got me to branch out a bit more. Badlands might be one of my favourite songs of all time. I know that many people say this album is dark, gritty, raw and intense. And while I agree, I also think it's hopeful. The songs are about having hope for the future even when things are dark. Perseverance, belief in oneself, hope for a better future... this is the stuff that can keep a person moving forward. 5/5

Last year on my birthday I unwrapped Killing Joke by Killing Joke, which was not exactly the most uplifting soundtrack for the day. This year I struck gold with one of my all time favourite albums, Darkness on the Edge of Town by my hero Bruce Springsteen.

Before even getting into it, this is an easy five out of five. It is a towering follow up to Born to Run, and you can hear the weight of those three years in every note. The sound is leaner, tougher and more focused. The romance is still there, but now it is hardened by reality.

There is not a single weak moment. From the opening punch of Badlands to the stark emotion of the title track, every song feels essential. Prove It All Night and The Promised Land have always meant so much to me. They are two of his greatest songs and they never lose their power.

This album is incredibly important to me. It feels honest, resilient and defiant. It is the sound of someone refusing to back down.

Favourite song: Badlands. Not just because it is brilliant on the record, but because of what it represents live. When it kicks in during the final stretch of a show, you know you are in for something special.
Least favourite: None. Every song belongs.
Album artwork: Classic. The cover perfectly captures the gritty, introspective tone of the music within

acho que to ficando mais suscetível ao dad rock

eu achei esse melhor que o born in the u.s.a. mais dançável e bobim!!!
mas ainda meia boca ao extremo

Rated 6/10

Not feeling it, really. Feels weak compared to basically everything else he has composed.

Rated 10/10

Brilliant album. I had always dismissed Springsteen but after two albums of his I am changing my mind.

Rated 6/10

Cliche americana, corny piano rock, cheesy sax solos, a big anthemic sound rises and falls over mid-tempo beats - not a promising recipe, but it works. Despite his limited range and wierd stuffy-nose timbre, the raw energy in his voice cuts through and gives this a compelling charisma that draws you in to the stories and mood of the album. Opens strong but drags in the middle.

This marks #4 from Springsteen on this list for me. Surely Born to Run and Born in the USA would have been enough? Maybe I'm just grumpy. Springsteen seems like a super cool dude in general, I just don't really like his music. It's not that I don't like it, I guess it's more just indifference. I do really like his voice, I just would never choose to listen to an album of his. This one, same as the rest. 2.5/5, and I guess I'll round up?

You can always count on The Boss to give us some well-written, well-played tunes. Can't go wrong with some Springsteen in your ears!
