I'm sorry Lloyd Cole. I realize that it's not your fault some twat put you on this list. You're probably embarrassed by it. Because I'm sure you can name 50 other albums and artists more deserving of a spot on this list. I'll give you a three because it's not your fault.

Better than the reviews would have had me believe. This was just a bit before my time (well, I was 10 at the time), but stands up well after all these years.
Nothing particularly stands out writing this review the next day, but I'd be happy to hear it again any time.

Lovely slice of 80s this. Very evocative. Great songwriting and the band are just on point all the way through. It has that effortless confidence of youth….just leaves me wanting more…the mark of an all great albums.

Easy 4.

Almost a four for me. Probably would have gone there but I felt like the vocals were way high in the mix. Which, Interesting choice given the singer. He's not bad at all but he has a particular voice and it already tends to stand out from the song.

Another album that so very 80's. I am almost tempted to knock it down to a two star because of how blah it was, but in the end there was nothing so bad that I would want to turn it off it was paying in the background.

So incredibly dated and boring, yet somehow endearing? The way Speedboat progresses to its really catchy refrain is pretty good. The instrumental for Are You Ready To Be Heartbroken? Is stupid yet fun. A true contradiction of a record. Did I like this? Am I going crazy?

Die Commotions zorgen maar voor weinig commotie... Niet de best passende bandnaam. Rattlesnakes is een beter gekozen naam. Deze muziek ligt inderdaad als voor dood op een beschut plekje.

pretentious. if you look at press pictures of Lloyd Cole, he always has a pained look. This is because he's listening to his own music during shoots.

It reminds me of my youth - I love this: clean pop, fantastic guitars, a smooth sound, beautiful lyrics... I knew right away this was going to be a 10/10

Shout out for 'Perfect Skin', 'Forest Fire', 'Are you ready to be heartbroken?'

And yes, you can also mention 'Rattlesnakes', although it's not one of my favs :-D

Pretty middle of the road. Not sure what all the commotion is about.

I mean, honestly, WHAT distinguishes this album from hundreds of other male pop albums? I cannot pick out one reason why I needed to listen to this before I die. Unbelievably average. I don’t need to give it a low score because it’s fine, I just do NOT understand its inclusion.

Had never heard of this. But I can dig it. Need to relisten.

One of the least engaging albums I've ever heard. Utterly forgettable.

Inoffensive but wholly unremarkable rock. Whilst I have listened to this before, I couldn't recall a single detail about it on this listen, and I'm struggling again on this attempt immediately after the fact.

It was a nice album, but also a little boring. I probably won't listen to it again. 3/5
