It's good, but I'd rather be listening to Fleet Foxes.

I've had a fair few albums similar to this - similar in terms of tempo and atmosphere - and they've all just been boring. They aren't terrible by any means, but nothing sticks to make it memorable. The best way to describe these would be inoffensive, I guess

Very consistent dreampop album, with only a few dips in quality. Unfortunately, it also lacks notable highlights that would give it a higher score. While the flow of the album is enjoyable, many of the songs feel somewhat interchangeable. After listening to it three times, I'm still unsure which tracks I would consider favourites.

I’m very confused about albums like this and so many other songs this list.
The music is listenable and fine but lacks any emotion or passion. It’s background music while you do another task.
I absolutely cannot see anyone sitting down and intentionally listening to this album.

The Good: A Teen Dream by a Beach House…
The Bad: Is it really a dream?
The Ugly: Is it really a beach?
I don’t understand why people would rave about albums like these. It is something you’d probably want to hear while sitting in the waiting room of your dentist’s office, just before your fifth root canal…
So, yeah… Not for me…
1 1/2* cause it didn’t make me want to remove the experience from my memory…

I've always enjoyed the general vibe of this album a lot, but having listened to a few other Beach House albums, I think they're guilty of just repeating the same formula over and over. Some great songs on here though, very relaxing and reminiscent of my college years and my first car - this CD was in the stereo very often.

fantastic dream pop record
Rated 8/10
Better than your average indie rock, with a couple of songs that fall flat. Overall it's a neat listen that reminds you of being a teenager, and the songs have the drama of a movie soundtrack. Not too shabby.

I first heard this album a couple years back and it really caught me off guard. I'd never heard of this band despite Beach House being around for nearly two decades at that point, but this album was really the jumping off point for them, and really carries on the dream pop legacy dominated by acts like Cocteau Twins, Slowdive, and a multitude of other great acts. What's important, though, is it modernizes the sound not to be derivative of these acts, but rather, take little bits and pieces and give them a 2010s pop coat of paint. Great, strong vocal patterns, big, sweeping movements, and a sense of melancholia that cannot be beat. While I think the duo still had room to grow after this album, as some tracks can read similar to the last, this is still a great album where you could tell they were really becoming their own thing, artistically, and it is a treat to know they are still making music today, just as strong as ever.

I’m right at a 3.
I don’t really know what to say – it’s definitely early 2010s indie rock. I’m not that willing to give it glowing praise, but it’s not a bad album at all, it’s just not my thing.
To expound on this a little, it’s got great instrumentals across the board here – an incredibly relaxing album to listen to, and I appreciate the sort of minimalism and free-flowing vibe it has going for it. I think the vocals are pretty good, if a little too… I don’t wanna say “unmotivated,” but they don’t feel as emotionally driven as they could be, but with these lyrics, it does run the risk of sounding too cheesy if you overdo it, so I’m probably just being nitpicky towards my tastes.
Honestly, I guess I don’t really have any flaws with this. There’s not a bad song here, and everything’s good. It just never captivated me that much. To put it bluntly, it’s a car album. It’s the type of album you put on during a long drive and you just calm your spirits to it. It’s not the type of album you intently listen to and try to break down the meaning of, because with too much focus, this album kind of crumbles on some of its more relaxing and hypnotic moments in the soundscape. We’ve had a few albums before that qualify as “car albums” to me, but this is probably the most blatant example of one thus far.
Again, though, it’s not bad, it’s just not my thing. It’s certainly no less than a 3, I’ll say that. For my tastes, it is a 3, but this could easily be a 4 or a 5 for someone else. Maybe I’ll listen to it on a drive and see if it gets the bump.

Nothing remarkable on it. Forgot about it the next day already

I liked this one, but some of these songs kind of came and went for me. I have a great idea though. First, take the guitar part from Silver Soul, reverse and loop it. Next add some drums, and add some verses from an artist like Kendrick Lamar. Finally add a catchy hook, and one of the best feature verses ever from Jay Rock. I feel like that would make a really good song. Wait…..
Rated 10/10
Firstly I forgot how amazing this album is. Secondly this one played a big part in forming my music taste very early on so I have to give it a 5 even if the second half is a little less perfect than the first tracks

I saw Beach House live the year that this album came out. I'm a huge sub pop fan, and this style is right in my sweet spot. I listened to this frequently when it was new, but hadn't for a few years. It still sounds great to my ear.

I liked this alright. Wouldn’t be mad if another of theirs came up.

I found this album pretty boring, so I decided to check out some YouTube videos to find out what the fuss was. Saw live videos of Space Song and Myth and was so much more impressed with the band. Unfortunately, this album didn't draw me in. All the songs have the same exact dreamy pop-light sound. Pleasant but boring (and I really didn't like the detuning effects in Norway). Liked Used to Be and Lover of Mine. Anyway, moving on.

An enjoyable reminder of the music that was pervasive in the 2010's. I enjoyed it. Don't have too much more to say on the matter.

Este grupo me deja frío. Me recuerdan a muchas cosas que ya oí, pero sin brillar ni aportarme (Everything but the girl, The XX, Florence, Cocteau Twins, etc.) No pasa nada por no oír este disco.
