Rated 10/10

This sounds way more like a 70's album than it does a 60's one. Effortlessly predicts the sound people like Elton Jong and Carly Simon would go on to produce. I really enjoyed this, the songs had meaningful lyrics and they all sound lovely. Really pleasant surprise.

Rated 4/10

This just tries too hard. You don't need to change tempo and time signature several times ever track.
Parts of this is great, but slow the fuck down and develop a few of the myriad ideas.

Rated 6/10

Well this was an interesting way to start the morning, with some very bold, dramatic show music. It's certainly not meek this, it's very bold and in your face and with full-on vocals. I kind of appreciate it, despite it not being for me.

Rated 4/10

Top tip. Change your phones output to mono before listening. Otherwise you get the completely unhinged production.

There’s a few great songs on here, but it’s so mixed that I couldn’t quite get past the ones that didn’t work.

Rated 4/10

Good songs individually but the vocal delivery and production style mean trying to listen to this in one sitting is akin to chugging a 2 litre bottle of Coke.

Rated 8/10

Never heard of her or this album. Not sure what album everyone else is listening to here. This was great! Similar songwriting style to Carole King. Favorite songs were Luckie, Sweet Blindness, Eli’s Comin’, and Woman’s Blues.

Rated 1/10

Holy bleh. At points I tried to say to myself that there was merit in her voice, but after awhile it became clear she just sounds like she is belting the same high notes over and over. This was not for me at all. Too showtune-y.

Rated 10/10

Beautiful standards, most of which really suits her. Not the strongest voice ever, but truly gorgeous

Rated 6/10

I can see why this was impressive for the time, but it doesn't really hit the same way today. That being said, it holds up pretty well.

Rated 4/10

Struggled with this. Didn't like the expressive singing. Not too bad when singing softly but sometimes it was tough going.

Rated 7/10

Eli And The Thirteenth Confession was an album where my opinion kept wavering back and forth. At points, it could feel like a 3 star album and at other points it could be a 4 star album. A lot of the music here could be alright at best but it did have moments of being really good. The vocals also wavered with them sometimes being really good and other times being a bit awkward. I will still say that the good parts of this album outweighed any of the really bad but also a lot of the really good parts to. This more or less makes this album be just a good one with a lot of really good parts so i may just end up giving it a 3.5
Best Song: Eli's Comin'
Worst Song: December's Boudoir
Side Note: One thing i just really want to say is that i think Laura Nyro is genuinely so beautiful

Rated 4/10

She's a fine singer but I was done after about 10 tracks.

Rated 4/10

The Album looks and sounds kind of like a Album from the current decade. dunno why I got that feeling, might be completely bullshit but anyway

not my kind of music :D

Rated 4/10

I definitely didn't understand this one. She has huge vocal range, but the songwriting is all over the place. It was hard to ever find the groove of any of these tracks.

Rated 2/10

I really didn't enjoy this at all. I don't know if it was the genre, the recording, or her, but I didn't like it.

Rated 6/10

This was pretty nice. The one guy said it goes from annoying to pretty. That is exactly true. I think this is nowhere near Norah Jones, but still very pretty sounds. Stroooong 3

Rated 6/10

After an onslaught of albums that I feel very strongly about, it's almost nice to get something that I find vaguely pleasant. There is a theatricality to these songs that I don't totally gel with, and the sound feels fairly consistent from front to back. So, consequentially, this album is kind of "in one ear, out the other" but while its on, I think it's fairly enjoyable. Laura Nyro is obviously a fantastic singer, and the performances and arrangements are clearly detailed, regardless of how I feel about them. My favorite tracks here are ones that play with a different sound palette, like December's Boudoir, they just kind of stand out. Overall, this is an enjoyable album!

Rated 6/10

I had never heard of Laura Nyro before, but this was some fairly enjoyable 60s pop.

Favourite track: Poverty Train, Stoned Soul Picnic, Once It Was Alright Now (Farmer Joe)

Rated 8/10

Really interesting lyricism. Feels like it's from another dimension. Way advanced for the time conceptually. I can see why she was t commercially successful. Still, a shame. She definitely deserves that recognition.
