Perfectly pleasant but not very impressive. Was nice to hear some pre-beatles pop either way, feels like it's a period of music that gets overlooked these days.

Rated 4/10

If there was a fight between the two bands, the Isley Bros would smack the cardigans off of these two twerps.

Every boy who has ever picked up a guitar and sang about his girl dumping him in the last 60 years has owed something to The Everlys and the template they laid down.

It's a bit country, it's a bit rock and roll, a bit Johnny Cash, a bit Elvis.

They harmonise like angels about teen heartbreak and adolescent lust. These boys are horny!

Girls are made for lovin' (apparently), but most of them break your heart and make you their clown. You can imagine this playing on the jukebox in the corner of a diner in a David Lynch movie.

Not as angst driven as someone like Roy Orbison, but still filled with drama.

Cathy's Clown is the best known song here, but there's the whitest version known to man of Little Richard's Lucille and Love Hurts, later recorded by a string of others.

The whole thing is over and done with in less than half an hour and it's pleasant enough.

This is my first time listening to an Everly Brothers album all the way through.

Obviously, the precision of the harmonies here is remarkable. Also obviously, the themes are pretty dated, but I mean, this album came out in 1960. There's no real malice in the themes, so you just kind of shrug it off. This is good, but not great.

Rated 4/10

It's like listening to Back to the Future.

Rated 8/10

A classic. Not something I would listen to on a regular basis but, as I'm getting older, I do understand the importance and the value of these classics... it's like confort music, you know?

Rated 8/10

Cathy’s Clown and Love Hurts are stone cold classics. The Everly Brothers are a vibe which may not be for everyone. But still better than most of the Brit Pop on this list.

Rated 8/10

Nice short album. The lyrics are a weird mix of polite and overly horny, but musically everything is well constructed.
I have a weakness for tracks and albums that are this short and to the point.

Rated 6/10

Easy to listen to Pop goodness.

Rated 4/10

They packed in so much incel energy in just a few songs, lololol. Also, I was a little surprised that it was recorded in 1960, it feels much older in style than that. They're like the transition point from crooners to rock and roll.

Old cheese

More like, “So Dated with The Everly Brothers”! But, spectacular Dad jokes aside, I kept waiting for Patti Smith to bust into the middle of the man-splaining in these songs and kick these whitebread bitches right out of their cardigans.
I would have been fine dying without hearing this album actually.

Love the vocal harmonies and the overall vibe. It's really short though. Favorite track: Made to Love

Rated 4/10

Thanking the 1001 Algo for today's exercise in musical education being a mere 27 minutes at least. Another band which my Mum grew up hearing at home; I'm familiar with a few of these tracks through her playing them over the years, and the album was a pleasant enough listen. Ultimately it's just not really my thing though, despite understanding, to a degree, why it's on here.

Rated 4/10

I won't be able to listen to this. My father loved The Everly Brothers and it's just too painful even though it isn't very good.

Rated 6/10

Decent to listen to and the harmonies are fantastic
