Cool, not a huge stones guy but I enjoyed this
Rated 6/10
This is my fourth Rolling Stones album- and I'm not even a quarter of the way through the project. Sadly, it confirms all my previous perceptions of the Stones: a somewhat overrated blues-rock band that just aren't that good or interesting. This album starts with the uniquely groovy "Sympathy for the Devil", which if nothing else is a very fun listen. The rest of the album is just basic white blues that's not particularly well-written or interesting. The more traditionally Stonesy numbers are the better ones, with quieter songs being uninteresting. Lyrics are very mediocre, and Mick Jagger isn't that compelling of a blues vocalist. So, in short, the Rolling Stones are overrated, and this album isn't an exception.

As a person who grew up in a Beatles house, this is going to be interesting. I do love Sympathy for the Devil though. Also I know Street Fighting Man. I guess that was played in my house

The first Stones album of the many on this list that's truly clicked with me! :) I liked each song, "got" the vibe of it, and really enjoyed it! :)
Also my friend Mark went to see the Rolling Stones on the 6th of July in Hyde park.

An old favorite is it a 4 or is it a 5?
Rated 10/10
It has Sympathy for the Devil, I would give it 5 just on that; then there's all the others. A classic album, it truly deserves to be in any list ;-)
Rated 8/10
This is my 5th Rolling Stones album from the list and I think it may have been my favourite so far. Sympathy for the Devil and Street Fighting Man are two of my favourite tracks from the Stones and there's a couple deep cuts that I don't know if I've ever heard that I enjoyed a lot like Prodigal Son and Salt of the Earth.
That said, I think this has solidified the idea that the Stones are a greatest hits band for me. While I enjoyed listening to this album, and the hits are great, it just doesn't do a lot for me as a whole and I can't see myself ever really returning to anything beyond the hits.

I didn't think I was going to like this album as much as I did. I previously thought the Stones were overrated, even as a fan of classic rock. But damn, this album felt great. Some moments of genre bending blues with real talent. Of course, I already knew sympathy for the devil, but I discovered factory girl and salt of the earth.
Rated 6/10
3 stars for this - 1 star each for Sympathy For The Devil, 1 for Street Fighting Man, and a half each for Stray Cat Blues and Salt of the Earth. The rest sounds like some half-baked, half-arsed demos which they made whilst pissed. Disappointing from supposedly one of the biggest bands of the era.

Pretty unimaginative beyond its two hit songs. They made better records at all stages of their career

Love sympathy for the devil, and works great as an opener. I'm always surprised the Stones are more blues-y than I expect. This was alright, 4*
Highlights: sympathy for the devil

Favorite track(s): Sympathy for the Devil, No Expectations, Street Fighting Man

Not what I expected at all. It felt country/folk at times, which was unexpected. I didn't dislike any of this album, however early on nothing really hit for me. Sympathy for the Devil, however is one of my favorite songs ever made. As the album went on, it got better. More conventional Rolling Stones. I haven't heard any other albums by them yet, but I have heard a lot of their music. I wasn't blown away at all, but I definitely enjoyed listening to this album.

How did they get that photo of my bathroom?
Can't really stand the harder blues stuff like Dear Doctor, Prodigal Son etc.
Rockier stuff like Sympathy... and Street Fighting Man is great though.

Rated 4.5/5.0 on RYM. This is absolutely easy strong 4 stars, 2 classic stones cuts, but apart from those this album is very strongly blues oriented and clearly influenced by Muddy Waters, Robert Johnson and others. I love No Expectations, Jigsaw Puzzle and Stray Cat Blues among others. Might even go to 5 stars, but then again, I don't want to be too generous here. But I love this album for sure, def in top 4 stones albums, maybe even top 3.

This is a good record, but I just think it’s comparatively weaker next to a Sticky Fingers or Let It Bleed. Sympathy For The Devil is an all timer, but some of tracks in the middle are just a little weaker. The piano rocker that is Salt Of The Earth really closes out the album strong. Favorite songs are Sympathy For The Devil, No Expectations, Street Fighting Man, and Salt Of The Earth.
