Oh it's Biggie!

The beats are fire and the rhymes are flawlessly slick, but each track sounds the same with each boom bap. The momentum stays pretty strong in the first half, but loses it in the latter half. "Big Poppa" will always be my jam (3.5-4).

Not for me this one. Didn’t hate it enough to justify a one star rating but it’s not one I’m ever going to revisit

Rated 2/10

Unfortunately, was genuinely unable to start this project with the knowledge of what's inside, and who produced it...

Rated 6/10

The beats and the rapping flow so well in this album. Sure, the lyrics are vulgar, misogynistic, and violent, but Biggie weaves those lyrics into good stories (I can't say that about many of the rap/hip hop artists I've had to listen to). The skits are never my preference, though. I'd rather just listen to musical parts.

I usually don't like rap, and this album is the epitome of why I don't. There's no denying that Biggie has talent, but he wastes it on gross, sexist, immature lyrics, the kind of which I would have written at 14 years old and be eternally embarrassed by. There ARE some genuinely good songs here and there, like Juicy, but even that one lacks self-awareness on a very deep level. Becoming rich and famous isn't the gotcha to his teachers he seems to think it is. Bro, you write songs about your penis, sit the fuck down, that's not success, that's being a cringelord.

Rated 10/10

Some absolute classic songs on here make this a classic for a reason

Really not sure what he was thinking with fuvk me interlude though lmao

If this didn't have the sex skits it would be a top 10 album of all time

Rated 1/10

I really didn't need to hear about how much sex this fat asshole was supposedly getting.

Rated 8/10

Rated 10/10

biggie smalls is the illest

Rated 6/10

Side 1: :
Flow is pretty untouchable - male machismo untouchable by anyone else. Maybe the heights of the gangster album genre and yet - it kinda feels like a slog. Beats and samples are pretty uninspired and the sex interlude is well...if he hadnt been killed, not sure he'd be in the same category ppl hold him in today?

Side 2: Whoa some damn good hits on there....and theres the BJ at the end of the song....

Rated 6/10

loved it very much, but theres way too much misogynistic lyrics

Rated 4/10

A good listen at times and would be higher if not for a lot of the uncomfortable misogynistic lyrics. I acknowledge his influence, but I'll probably not be returning to this one any time soon.

Rated 4/10

Wow, yesterday MissE, today Notorious... It really takes the fun out of this project.
Musically, both are still somewhat tolerable, but I feel deep pity for the people behind them and their extremely limited worldview. Because of that, the lyrics are just repulsive, but I feel so sorry for this guy with his completely messed-up life that I’m still giving it 1.5 stars.

Rated 8/10

Hoge hoge highs, maar mijn god deze plaat is bloated, Miseducation is er niets bij.

Rated 4/10

It's well known that this was the only album the artist released during his life, as he was killed just days before releasing his second effort. Unfortunately, it's not a very enjoyable rap album. While his flows are strong, and he has obvious storytelling abilities, he just stays in one mode for the bulk of the album. Even more damningly, that mode is "brag about shooting people and committing violent crimes", which does not make for an enjoyable listen. While I understand(or think I understand as much as I can, being a white teenager from suburban Florida) where it all comes from, I just don't want to hear it. That, ultimately, ruins the album for me, alongside the tedious length. It just gets boring after a while, and it wasn't great to begin with, so it gets a 2.
