Rated 4/10

Heard it before, will listen again. Not their best but still some absolute bangers on here

Wooo boyyyy does that guitar sing and wail!
Solos melt my face- an injection of gulf war adreline and monster energy.
Rated 8/10

i’ll call this one “hissy fit.”
Rated 6/10
Not my fave Metallica album but it does have "One" on it. 3/5.

Rated 10/10
Really loved the lyrical themes and the technical skill throughout this album. Both are excellent, this album is acclaimed for a reason. Loved this.

I’m not really a metal fan, but it’s hard to deny the impact of …𝘈𝘯𝘥 𝘑𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘦 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘈𝘭𝘭. The album is ambitious and uncompromising, filled with long, intricate songs built around razor-sharp riffs and relentless rhythms. At times the music almost feels progressive in its complexity, pushing thrash metal beyond straightforward aggression.
Even if this isn’t a style I normally gravitate toward, the precision and intensity of the band are impressive. It’s a demanding listen, but one that makes it clear why many consider this album one of the high points of the genre.

One of the things I expected from this challenge is to get further into metal but for now it has not been the case.

Classic. Gets old after 5th song, but still passes the test of time.
Rated 2/10
This clearly isn't for me and way too long. Leaving it to those who partake, if it was less long I might have felt generous and gone for a 2 but it's too much
Rated 6/10
Not as good as master of puppets. Low 3 I guess.

Not my thing.

I've never been into Metallica, or metal in general with some exceptions, so here we go. I'm told that this is the proggiest Metallica album, so that probably makes it a good first attempt at this band for me. And yeah, several songs had moments that made me be like "wait, is this Genesis...? (lol no, it is NOT Genesis - commence headbanging)
I really loved the music on this record, all the brutal bass lines, drum, and interesting guitar bits. There were great extended instrumental sections on quite a lot of the tracks; I especially liked the slower, heavy sludgey stuff, but the fast stuff of course was marvelous.
Unfortunately, I found the vocals to be consistently annoying. But still, looking forward to more Metallica as I get deeper into this project.

This is relentless. I haven't had a chance to fully engage with this but I like what I heard. Shame there's no bass guitar here BUT that decision does make it a compelling listen. It gives the album its character. Metallica's first 4 albums are as good as any other band's.
Rated 6/10
Metallica are very silly boys.
So many sick riffs, so many daft lyrics. The notoriously bassless mix is such a dumb move that makes the album sound incomplete. All the songs are great, bar One for which the first half is quite meh, so long as you don't fully pay attention to the words.
Rated 4/10
Meh. Love the idea that there is social justice lyrics but can’t follow.
