Would have been amazing to be there! But of course music must evolve, and this is just a bit boring now

Not the hugest Blues fan but it is difficult for me not to like this-one of the foremost Blues musicians of all time playing some great new tunes and some reworkings of old classics such as Baby, Please Don’t Go, one of the greatest songs ever, whoever’s doing it.

Classico blues senza troppi fronzoli

Love Muddy Waters. It's funny, he was one of the first on my list and now one of the last. Feels fitting. His voice is fantastic on this release, and the backing band does an amazing job.

This wasn't bad. Muddy is a killer vocalist and really stole the show. Unfortunately many of the songs didn't have much vibrance or take me back to the live environment (like the 1956 Ellington at Newport). 3/5

This is just not for me. Not bad, I'm sure it's good and important. Actually recorded pretty well. High energy for a live show.
Rated 6/10
Excellent songwriting and performing, can see why this is so highly thought of. Would just need a bit more variety in sound and songs to make it better for me.

Great energy, I loved the live ambience with the brief spoken transitions between tracks. Giving it a 3 because much like an actual jazz fest show, I don't think it quite makes it into my rotation, although it was a good experience and I'm happy to have listened.

Nobody does the rockin' blues better than ole Muddy.

Muddy is the coolest and this band is hot shit.

I like the slow jams - the groove is ridiculous on those. The fast stuff is whatever.
1. I Got My Brand on You (4:50) - 7/10
Amazing groove
2. I'm the Hoochie Coochie Man (2:57) - 8/10
Amazing chill
3. Baby, Please Don't Go (3:04) - 8/10
Breakdown in this one is so good, great jam energy
4. Soon Forgotten (4:17) - 7/10
The groove is so good - love how it swells throughout.
5. Tiger in Your Tank (4:32) - 6/10
He put a tiger in my tank? 😳
6. I Feel So Good (3:01) - 6/10
7. I've Got My Mojo Working (4:27) - 6/10
He gets freaky on this one tbh
8. Got My Mojo Working (2:55) - 6/10
Gotta do it a second time apparently
9. Goodbye Newport Blues (4:53) - 5/10
Who's this guy?
Rated 4/10
To me these blues tunes all sound exactly the same. In fact 2 of the tracks on this album WERE exactly the same - I checked.
But I accept Muddy Waters has been a huge influence on popular music. A lot if which I like. So I cannot give it a 1.

Just Blues. Live Blues at that. Blues isn't my jam. 2/5

Live albums are usually not as good as studio recordings.
Usually.
Muddy Waters is the exception that proves the rule. DAMN, was he ever good.
