I love the blues, love the harmonica and this is MUDDY WATERS! I want it to be five stars but something is holding me back. Which I think is my underlying hesitation- he sounds a bit restrained? There are 5 star moments, but this is 4.5 stars for me. I know there is a better Muddy Waters album out there and am now going to try to find it.

I really enjoyed this album. I got a brand on you is one hell of a tune! its a good album and will be listened to again
Favourite song:I got a brand on you
Least favourite: All good
Album artwork: Cool cover

Enjoyable - and not what I would call a live album in terms of audio quality and crowd noise
Rated 8/10
It sounds really nice, never been that much of a muddy waters guy though. He doesn’t have the ferocity that John Lee Hooker and Big Mama Thornton have. His playing is immensly great though.

This was fine

I dig this. Very blues-y early rock. 4/5

One of the best live albums I've ever heard. You've got Muddy, who is obviously a legend, but you also have Otis Spann and James Cotton, who might not be household names, but are two of the best ever to do what they do. Four stars only because there are better studio albums (and I prefer studio albums over live albums any day of the week).

Altid godt at vide hvem der skrev Hoochie Coochie man!
God live optagelse (af sin tid?)

Pleasant enough, but a bit slow for my liking. Most songs also sounded repetitive

Pretty good!

For this review, I'm sticking to the original track listing and not counting the bonus tracks from the 2001 remastered version.
I'm already familiar with Muddy Waters as a blues legend, with this being a hallmark performance of his at the Newport Jazz Festival in 1960. This is peak Chicago-style blues for those who are into the classics, complete with an upbeat performance by Muddy and his live band. There's a reason why this album has been cited for developing the hard rock sound. Check it out.

Good live record. Muddy Waters and his band are tight.

Imagine playing a song so well that you decide to run it back and play it even BETTER the second time. Eat your heart out John Mayall and Co.
Rated 6/10
It's perfectly nice blues. Competent, really lively at times, easy listening, not massively varied. I had a nice enough time with it.
Rated 6/10
It’s fine.

I am just not that into the blues. The repetition kills me. I see the merit in this album, but it just didn't do it for me. And there is a lot of harmonica on this album and it may be at its most annoying here because it seems to mostly only make one sound where it vibrates on one note for the entire song. It is actually kind of interesting this way but still mostly annoying to me. I feel so good I feel like balling the jack? I put a tiger in your tank? What is Muddy talking about? And the people love the mojo song so much that muddy plays it twice? Goodbye Newport Blues kind of hits weird right now because there was a shooting at Newport on the Levee last night and people were running and hiding and families were just trying to listen to music and eat dinner and it's almost not safe to leave your house anymore. I wasn't there but I didn't like reading about it because it seems like one of those places that should be immune to this sort of thing. Unfortunately this song failed to elicit much emotion from me. I'll give this two stars though because Muddy vibrates his mouth sometimes while singing and it makes me laugh.

Not really my taste, but it's amazing hearing a lot of style that exists in modern music already in his.

This album gave me the blues.

I'm thankful that this project helped me discover Muddy Waters -- I really like blues and this guy is exceptional. 4*. This hit good with mate in the morning.
