Good sixties stuff, enjoyed it
Rated 8/10
Me gustó bastante.
Rated 10/10
The Good: We are going on a trip to find out about stuff…
The Bad: What if we took the wrong shrooms…
The Ugly: Fucking zombies showing up due to the afore-mentioned shrooms…
WOW
That’s it.
WOW
What a great album. First listen, actually, first thought, OH NO psychedelic shit… but no, this was like listening to the fun Beatles… yet with a story… at least, that’s the way it seemed to me.
I have listened to this album 5, maybe 6 times, and I will want to listen a 7th and 8th time this week too!
Probably one of my best finds on this list so far…
Oh, and when you get to the last song of the album you go: these bastards did that song?
Yes, I am blond and it takes me decades for shit to sink in…

For dette ER jo ganske gubbete, med unntak av "Time of the Season".

It's not an album I'd listen to on my own, but some of these songs are so sweet that it's hard to be negative about it!
Standouts: A Rose for Emily • Beechwood Park • Time of the Season
Rated 6/10
The '60s baroque-pop sound gets old really fast for me, and this has little else going on. I wish this had more of the psychedelia they start to display on Time of The Seasons (which rocks!), but aside from that track, it's just A LOT of harpsichord and horns. Good for them closing out the album on their best song though.
Rated 8/10
Cool album, really surprised I'm not more familiar with The Zombies. I've heard Time of the Season through ads and movies numerous times but I would never have been able to identify the band.
I can see how Pet Sounds and Sgt Peppers would have influenced this album. 3.5/5. Raising to a 4.
Rated 6/10
I honestly don't remember anything about The Zombies - all I could tell you beyond the fact of their existence was that the first person I knew to get covid got it at a The Zombies show in 2021.
This is pleasant late-60s psych-pop with pretty harmonies and interesting melodies here and there. I remember "Time of the Season," of course, though I never knew what band it was because it didn't interest me much. So I didn't think I'd like this record as much as I did - there's some interesting stuff on here.
So this is a reasonably listenable album, though It got a little monotonous around song #8, and the lack of zombie-related content is disappointing. But it was good for what it was.
I was amused to learn that "Odyssey" is spelled wrong in the album title because the cover artist screwed it up, but the band wanted to be nice and made up a story to make it seem like they'd planned it that way.

Rated 10/10
Took an extra listen, but this is definetely 5 stars. Beautiful piece of 60's Psychedelic pop. Every song here has it's own merit and beauty, vocals are beautiful and accompanied really well. The songs work as standalone singles, yet there's a cohesion to the entire album as well. The entire backstory behind this album and the Zombies is amazing too.

brief candles bliver lidt kedelig
this will be our year er ret lækkert, kanon blæsere og generel instrumentering
Rated 8/10
One of those albums I always meant to take time to listen to because plenty of musicians reference it. It's great and fits perfectly with my belated love of 67/68 English psychedelia. It is a clever synthesis of Sgt Pepper and Pet Sounds to create their own thing.
Rated 10/10
This is another one of those albums that I originally gave a 4, but upon revisiting it I had to give it a 5. You can't make an album featuring the Mellotron, harpsichord and some delightful little organs and not expect me to love it.
Rated 6/10
This is a pretty cool album. Quite why it was ignored on release is a bit of a wonder.
Still well worth a listen. 3
Rated 6/10
Includes the hit "Time of the Season" which is one of the best songs in the album.
Rated 6/10
3/4/26 - Listened during work. I enjoyed it and was surprised I didn't know more of the songs. An easy listen.
Top Song - Care of Cell 44
Rated 6/10
The story about the recording of this album is more interesting than the album itself. "Time of the Season" is a classic, but the rest is pretty contrived psych-pop leaning heavily on style trends of the time - Donovan, The Beatles, Beach Boys... if I listened again I'm sure a Dylan tribute would rise from the swamp. It's not bad, though; not annoying or offensive or difficult to get through. It's nice, just not impressive.

Just missing Eminem

Nice, was waiting for this one. A little bit underwhelming, however still strong 4 stars for sure. I should probably revisit this more often, was only aware of Time of the Season, but opening track is really good as well. I love album art
Rated 8/10
In part, the music reminded me of the early songs by Genesis, and in part of a German band that I don't like. I was ambivalent about whether I wanted to listen to the whole album. It was interesting, but also boring at times. Then I pricked up my ears when I heard "Time of the Season." I'd known the song for a long time and always liked it. I didn't realize it was by The Zombies. I think I need to listen to the album again. 4/5
