Rated 5/10

Hotel California is a great track. The rest of the album is kinda boring. I'm with the dude on this one.

Rated 8/10

So slick and pleasant to listen to.

Nothing lives up to the opening track, but it's still very good!

Rated 4/10

Oh I could have died happy not hearing these songs again.

Rated 10/10

Hotel California by the Eagles is a wonderful album that I really enjoyed. The songs are very soothing and easy to listen to, with beautiful melodies and strong vocals throughout. The album creates a relaxing atmosphere while still featuring memorable tracks like "Hotel California" and "New Kid in Town." Overall, it's a timeless classic that combines great musicianship with a calm, enjoyable sound, making it an album I can listen to again and again

Rated 8/10

Surely there's an irony in setting out to make a big statement about the hollowness of American life, its consumerism and excess, business and art only to have it become one of the biggest selling albums that everyone had to have, so it became almost a symptom rather than a diagnosis.

It's expert, if, at times, overblown with its own importance, although any thought of the Eagles being desperado cowboys has long gone.

This is about as AOR as it gets and at times veers dangerously close to yacht rock. Probably seemed a lot more daring in 1976, before everyone had heard it too many times.

Rated 4/10

I don’t hate the title track as much as some people do but most of this is pretty awful. That last track is pretty based though.

Rated 10/10

This is the first album on the list that I listened to on my record player. I had heard most of the songs before, but never the whole thing. It's a great experience overall, just listening to anything on a record player. But it's always the best experience when it's a great album, which Hotel California is.

Rated 4/10

Obligatory, "I hate the fucking Eagles, man!". But seriously, I actually don't really like the Eagles. I've never been forced to put my dislike for them into words like this and I don't think I could have until I read the Ringer's article "The Case Against the Eagles" this morning. In far fewer words, the Eagles have always felt like that privileged kid that expects the world and more and will throw a fit when they don't get their way.

Anyways, separating the art from the artist and it's not all bad. Joe Walsh's guitar playing, when he's allowed to let loose, is amazing on this album. The hits are obviously great songs, Hotel California and Life in the Fast Lane deserve the praise they get, but other than a few select songs, this album is incredibly boring.

not as good as take it easy

Favorite track(s): Hotel California

Rated 4/10

Yes the title song has been heard so many times that it can be skipped and still be present in your head. Unfortunately the same can not be said of the remaining songs as it's as standardized rock as it can be. It's peak standardized rock maybe even defining it but it's still too bland.

Favorite Songs: Hotel California

Rated 8/10

I thought this would be overshadowed by the title track but to my surprise this was actually quite a great album all the way through. Some of the slower more piano led tracks didn't do as much for me as the other songs but I thought each track here had enjoyable qualities and there was nothing here that I hated. Very simple 70s rock music, but I enjoyed it.

Favs: Hotel California, New Kid In Town, Try And Love Again, Life In The Fast Lane

For the culture, it’s a 4. Personally probs closer to a 3 for me but eh

Rated 10/10

Hotel California brings this up to a 5 easily. The rest of the album is really good too no wonder it's one of the best selling albums ever.

Rated 6/10

I'll start this by saying that in general I can't stand The Eagles. But I've always liked the title track of this album, with its creepy theme and Spanish guitar.

Still, while I like that song, I slogged through the rest of this album. OK, "Life in the Fast Lane" is fun, but I could easily have lived without hearing "New Kid in Town" or any of the rest of it again.

I know I'll give the first Eagles album 2 stars, so I guess this one gets a 3 since I like a song or two on it.

Rated 2/10

This album opens with the two worst songs ever written, back-to-fucking-back. I'll save everybody a lot of time and just stop there.

Rated 8/10

After the obviously classic opener, it all becomes a little uninteresting. The album is front-loaded with the better melodies then sort of slips off a cliff. 2.5

Rated 8/10

Nice album to listen to on my birthday but it doesn’t hold up to the promise of the title song.

Rated 6/10

I was 7 when this album came out and I thought the lyrics were amazing! Killing beasts? Cool !

50 years later it just all sounds so cheesey. And I could be wrong, but I'm not.

Rated 6/10

It's a fine album, if a bit boring. Hotel California is a boomer staple but a pretty good song still. The 2 songs after that are pretty good too and after that it gets a bit boring. It's just kind of overplayed AOR stuff, hard to really hate on but not the type of music I'd pick out myself. Insert the dude quote here.
