It was smart of them to name the album after the only good song on the album

Excellent recording

Rated 8/10

solid, better than expected from how overplayed the title track is

Listened before? Yes

Thoughts:
- The Eagles are definitely a "singles" band for me. My mom had a greatest hits album when I was growing up, so listening to this I knew every word of the 3 singles, but had no memory of the other songs.
- I still love the song Hotel California; I don't care what anyone says, I even like the long intro and outro. I do love weird, vague lyrics though!
- Thought this might be a 5 at first, but the non-singles are mostly just "fine" to me.

Favorite track(s): Hotel California, New Kid in Town

Rated 4/10

Hotel california (the track) is a classic, but as a whole the album tends to push the duration of its songs a bit too much. ‘New Kid in Town’ is a prime example, a good track but just goes on too long. Wasted time even has an unnecessary reprise.
Where the songs are a beeter length, like Victim of Love, they’re just a bit meh.
I guess driving down a long American highway this would be a great album, but the majority of it just doesn’t connect with me. It’s all a bit too soft and middle of the road. It’s a firm 2.5/5 resting heavily on the title track’s greatness

I love Hotel California the song, but I found myself spectacularly unmoved by Hotel California the album. It was fine and I have zero strong opinions either way.

Ah, yes, Hotel California. An album so massively popular by a band so massively popular that it became a punchline. They're generally regarded as the Nickelback of the 1970s-with the omnipresent songs to match. However, many of the songs still hold up today, even the title track. While many other, softer tracks are weaker, the rockers generally hit pretty hard. This is a good album that doesn't quite make greatness.

I det store billede er det en omgang sløj samlebånds-rock. Lad os være ærlige: hele albummet er på listen pga. titelnummeret

So glad that I don’t like this one so I don’t need to disagree with the dude.

I’ve had fondue less cheesy than this.

Ein toller Jahrhundert Song mit gutem Beiwerk.

I really do fucking hate the Eagles and have fully walked out of stores and other social situations for playing Hotel California. That being said I really tried giving this a fair shake. It's just so bland and artless. There isn't an ounce of grit anywhere on this album and there's absolutely nothing exhilarating, unique, or daring in this music. If I could give any credit, I would say "Life in the Fast Lane" is a decent r&b song and "Try and Love Again" is a pretty good country song. But otherwise, this is absolute trash kitsch.

In 1979, the Surgeon General determined that listening to this album was the leading cause of erectile dysfunction in males aged 24-49. Repeated listening made you softer than the creamsicle held by Ru Paul while watching a wet t-shirt contest at a Señor Frog’s in the middle of summer. Formulaic, soulless, predictable dad rock.

Rated 5/10

Hotel California is a great track. The rest of the album is kinda boring. I'm with the dude on this one.

Rated 4/10

Oh I could have died happy not hearing these songs again.

Rated 10/10

Hotel California by the Eagles is a wonderful album that I really enjoyed. The songs are very soothing and easy to listen to, with beautiful melodies and strong vocals throughout. The album creates a relaxing atmosphere while still featuring memorable tracks like "Hotel California" and "New Kid in Town." Overall, it's a timeless classic that combines great musicianship with a calm, enjoyable sound, making it an album I can listen to again and again

Rated 8/10

Surely there's an irony in setting out to make a big statement about the hollowness of American life, its consumerism and excess, business and art only to have it become one of the biggest selling albums that everyone had to have, so it became almost a symptom rather than a diagnosis.

It's expert, if, at times, overblown with its own importance, although any thought of the Eagles being desperado cowboys has long gone.

This is about as AOR as it gets and at times veers dangerously close to yacht rock. Probably seemed a lot more daring in 1976, before everyone had heard it too many times.

Rated 4/10

I don’t hate the title track as much as some people do but most of this is pretty awful. That last track is pretty based though.
