I'm glad to have listened to it, as this was a band I'd heard a lot about but never approached before in any real way. However I'm not really digging it that much. There's some good propulsive beats in there, but the overall style isn't really my thing. It's fine, but it's not stirring much in me.

*Fine rock album that gets a little too out there by the end

Rated 8/10

I haven't listened to this album before, but I have listened to plenty of albums that have released since it came out that sound a lot like it, so I suppose that goes to show how influential it was, especially in the post-punk genre.

I really love the guitars on this album. A lot of moody, ear-worm riffs from guitarist John McGeoch on tracks like Monitor and Sin In My Heart. Monitor in particular is the highlight of the album in my eyes. Right from the very first note it grabs you by the throat and demands your full attention. Sit back and enjoy the real McCoy indeed. It's somehow groovy and oppressive in equal measure. It feels massively ahead of its time, but then again so does a lot of this album.

Siouxsie's vocals are a little one-note on this record, but at the same time they've very effective at setting the tone of the album: haunting and impactful. It wouldn't be half the album it is with anyone else. She really is one of the iconic voices of this genre.

I was almost tempted to give this a 5, but there are a couple of dud tracks that I didn't really care for at all in Night Shift and Voodoo Dolly. So that's why it's a 4.5 (rounded down) from me.

Favourite tracks: Monitor, Spellbound, Into The Light

This was fun. A little different, but enjoyable.

What a start. Love that song and never knew who did it.
Really takes a nosedive from there. Guitar work is good and I can hear how this influenced later bands (weirdly got a Stone Roses vibe at one stage).

2.5/5. Raising to 3.

Apparently, I don't really get along with Siouxsie And The Banshees. I like the style of the music. But somehow it doesn't grab me. I listened to this album in its entirety as well. Nothing stuck in my memory and I have no desire to listen to the album again. 3/5

Another blind spot for me, and I enjoyed it.

I feel as if I should like goth rock a lot more than I do. Maybe I've just yet to find the right band. Generous 3

Rated 8/10

Well crafted post punk vibes, almost haunting in its delivery as they moved onwards towards the darker goth-y sounds of the early 80s

Rated 10/10

Great album! The quintessential goth release, I have already rated this on RYM as 4.5/5.0, so this could go either way here, but honestly it is deserving 5 stars I think, great vibes

I liked this a lot, will be listening again

Rated 6/10

Lots of cool things going on, I don't think we've had any other album that sounds quite like this, almost like a very early shoegaze. If I have one complaint, it’s that the record can feel a bit aimless at times -- most notably on the 7min closer Voodoo Dolly, which kind of builds up and peters out into nothing. Still, very interesting and distinctive listen.

Standouts: Monitor • Night Shift • Sin In My Heart

Rated 8/10

Took a while to get into it. Then I realised I needed to listen to it loud. Will try listening while wearing black eyeliner as the next stage to push it up to a 5.

I like it.

Really enjoyed this

This is really great. The guitar playing and mood created in each of these songs keeps every feeling very cohesive and interesting. Favorite songs were Spellbound, Into The Light, Arabian Nights, Monitor, and Sin In My Heart.

I liked this. I really liked Monitor and Sin in My Heart. Great overall, it's actually a 3.5 for me but decided to round up instead of rounding down.
