𝘋𝘪𝘴𝘳𝘢𝘦𝘭𝘪 𝘎𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘴 feels like blues-rock with the intensity dialed back — you can sense the band’s raw power, but it rarely breaks loose. The one true standout is 𝗦𝘂𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗟𝗼𝘃𝗲, driven by Eric Clapton’s unmistakable riff, a hook so strong it practically carries the album’s legacy on its own. Beyond that, the record is competent and occasionally interesting, but it never quite catches fire.

Not even joking, the closer pushed this from a 4 to a 5
Rated 8/10
This is my first time listening to this album start-to-finish, though I'm quite familiar with quite a few of these songs.
It's a pretty solid album, and I'm glad I listened to it. I'm not sure I'll add it to my list of albums to listen to again, as the unfamiliar tracks weren't compelling enough.
Rated 4/10
Cool guitar jams for the time, that's about it. 60s psych rock isn't my thing!
Standouts: Sunshine For Your Love • Blue Condition
Rated 8/10
classic

There is a clear distinction between the stronger and weaker tracks on this one. At its best, it's distilled 60s psychedelia with urgent, anxious and joyful guitar licks. At its worst it's wobbly, lightheaded tedium. Fortunately there is more good times than bad comedowns. It probably sits somewhere around a 3 personally, but I'll bump it to 4 for it's cultural significance.

One of Clapton's finest moments, albeit not as fine as Layla or Blind Faith.

Eric Clapton's a piece of shit. There, got that out of the way.
I kind of have a soft spot for this album. Although looking back it's maybe not as deserving of they hype it gets. I suppose that this was an important album in music history, as was Cream an important band though they had such a brief run. And as much praise as Clapton got (gets?), I really feel like he's the weak link on this record. Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker are just obviously so much better and more diverse musicians than he is. The bass tone on this record is sooo good and the drums sound huge.
I kind of wanted to hate this album after listening to it again, it's been a long time. But damned if I didn't like it just as always. It's well played, creative, fun to listen to, and memorable. Is it overrated? Absolutely. Is it a great album? Yeah I think so. Maybe not one I would listen to a lot but I'd definitely come back to this now and again. The vocals are lacking a bit, a better singer could have done wonders. But this was really (as far as I know...) the first power trio and that's a very difficult thing to accomplish as a band.
As for a rating, I don't know. It's a great record but there's no way I would call it perfect. It would hover in the neighborhood right under 4 I think, maybe going up and down here and there. Eric Clapton is still a piece of shit though.

Due to my anti-Clapton bias, I was bracing myself for this to be two straight-up bangers (Strange Brew and Sunshine of Your Love) followed by a load of old blues wank. So, I was pleasantly surprised to discover that while Disraeli Gears is a tad patchy, it's not boring.
Rated 6/10
Not much to get my teeth into after the first two tracks.
But some interesting (and variable in quality) production, pleasant vocals and cool guitar.
Rated 6/10
Not my thing, but it was alright I guess.

I’m starting the year off with a banger of an album. I knew the name but have never listened to Cream properly before and I was very impressed with this one.
If I was being really picky I could probably do without Mothers Lament at the end but the rest of the album was that good I can forgive it.
Top Track - Sunshine Of Your Love
Rated 10/10
Quite the power trio.
Rated 6/10
Strong record mixing the blues with other influences to create something that is different and more original. Still got Clapton and he unfortunately does all the best songs here but they all put in a strong performance
Rated 4/10
Very cliché, very dull and somehow one of the shortest albums felt the longest
Rated 4/10
Not my kind of thing
Rated 6/10
Good album. Some classics, but as before with psychedelic music, its just not my thing.

Denne plata hadde hatt godt av en ny stereomiks. Monomiksen gjør det ikke for meg heller.
Flere av låtene er laget for å ha litt trøkk. Både "Sunshine of Your Love", "SWLABR" og "Tales of Brave Ulysses".

The Good: This is NOT a politically charged album title…
The Bad: This is NEITHER a technical manual…
The Ugly: Finding out that Cream does not refer to what we add to the scones…
As much as I am starting to really dig the 70s, I am also starting to really dislike the 60s, which made this a difficult album to listen to.
All these great musicians, all falling for that momentary laps of reason when psychedelia seemed to be the cool thing. I am sure there is merit to the genre. Maybe. Just not to my ears.
Which is what is wrong with this album… it just brushes too close to that awful genre—one that is starting to irritate me more than hip-hop…
Sunshine of Your Love is nice though, and who doesn’t appreciate a little Strange Brew now and again?
Still don’t understand what the album title refers to… leave your thoughts in the comments below!
