As pretty much every other reviewer pointed out, Kanye West is an awful person. However, I'm determined to listen to every album on this list and rate without bias. To be transparent, he did not receive any streaming revenue from my listen because I use new pipe to listen to all of my music (I hate ads just like everyone else). And honestly, I'm sure he's not the only artist on this list who is controversial or hated.

My first exposure to rap/hip hop on this list was OutKast, and I liked the musical diversity and uniqueness in that music. This album also has some good and unique instrumentation and beats/sounds (there's violins) and the rapping is not about the typical subjects, but serious issues that aren't cookie cutter. The guest appearances shine, especially the female vocalists ("All Falls Down" as one) and the use of harmonies. I'm not into the skits that seem to be common in these types of albums. Speaking musically, I thought it was good, definitely for a debut album. Mental illness is unfortunate and always seems to take down creative individuals.

I don’t care for Kanye at all, but this was pretty great, I can’t even lie.

If I get another Kanye West album during this year I just might actually kill myself.

At least this album was a lot better lyrically and less misogynistic than My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy was. The bar is in hell.

The great debut by the polarizing Chicago artist. It sounds so good but as a kid of the 2000s I get more enjoyment out of 'Graduation'. It is still a classic and a crucial record.

It's wild how far Kanye West has fallen since his debut—"The College Dropout" is fresh, fun, groovy, memorable, and humorous. While he's a serviceable rapper, he really shines as a producer. People who don't listen to wrap may not understand that the "genius of Kanye" lies not in his lyrics, but in his beats. His descent into MAGA and antisemitism 20 years after his iconic "George Bush doesn't care about black people" moment has left a devastating mark on his legacy. Regardless of where he's ended up, he was a great artist and "The College Dropout" is a great first record.

This relisten confirmed how amazing “Slow Jamz” is. Such a pretty song with a ALL-TIMER Twista feature that epitomizes this “chipmunk soul” thing he had going at the early stages of his career. An example of what I would call “easy-listening” hip-hop. The whole album feels like that. It’s got such a good energy and the comedy bits don’t detract at all from that. I honestly find myself singing that chant at the end of “New Workout Plan” often. The only thing I don’t care for here is Freeway’s verse on “Two Words.” Skip.

Well, I'll do my best to separate art from artist here, but there is a lot to separate. I’ve been avoiding Kanye since long before he became a Nazi; I just cannot stand his narcissistic and egotistical persona.

How am I not even halfway through this album yet? This album is too long. Ugh, and just when I thought it was done with annoying skits, another one pops up. Seriously, why do rap albums need skits? I'm also not a fan of this whole "chipmunk soul" style; something about pitched and sped up samples just gets on my nerves after a while.

Ok, ok, I'll try to be a bit more positive. I did like this a lot more than some of the previous hip hop albums I've been generated. Lyrically, it's a lot more interesting and it doesn't just devolve into generic gangsta rap cliches. A few tracks stood out too. In particular, I did like School Spirit and Two Words quite a bit.

Oh my god, I thought I was almost done, but noticed the last track is almost 13 minutes. I'll say it again, this album is way too long. Oh good, it’s
a 13 minute long autobiographical rant/rap? Just what I wanted to listen to from a narcissist. Holy shit, this track just destroyed any positive feelings I had for this album. I genuinely hated that.

I tried, but this just isn't for me and Kanye is a fucking tool.

Very listenable for hip-hop.
I can understand why it received rave reviews.
It's a shame it all went to Kanye's head. He needs help not derision.

Some good songs, but primarily had a bad time with this one.

I’ve already listened to Kanye for this list once, but I hadn’t heard that one before. This one I’ve heard before so I can’t in good conscience give Ye any more money from streaming.

This album deserves 5/5, Kanye deserves 1/5, so I’m gonna say 3/5.

Man, why did this have to be so good

Iconic and influential album. The hits are timeless, but some of the mid end of the album doesn’t hold up as well for me. What a great album surely the artist won’t be revealed as a massive bigot years later!

Naravno, mnogi odmah daju kečeve. I ja to radim iz svojih principa, cionistima je kec iste sekunde. Ali Kanye je "samo" mentalni bolesnik. Imamo doslovne pedofile u top 20 albuma. Tu nismo dosljedni, kolektivno. Inače, ovo je jedina vrsta hip hopa koju skoro volim. Nije predosadno uprkos tome što traje predugo. Podnošljivo je sve.

I briefly listened to the album and realised that I don't like this music, especially of this genre, enough to give this racist individual even a penny in royalties. Kanye West is blocked on my streaming account. 1/5
