There's no "Jolene" or "9 to 5" here, but I could listen to her voice all day. I'm not sure how someone can sound so innocent and yet so world-weary.

Wouldn’t be my type of music, but got to give it to Dolly she is a legend and should
Be in the book.

This was a generally pleasant listen. The slower ballads certainly stood out better than the faster and more edgy tracks. I could relisten to this in certain contexts. 3/5.

By now we should all know that Dolly is a wonderful person & a real delight of a human being. And now I know that this here album is pretty darn swell, too!

This was a bit surprise for me, as normally I'm not into country at all. But after two listens, I find the stories told via these lyrics so interesting, and Dolly delivers them with such personality, it was a great listen. Especially love the title track and Early Morning Breeze (gorgeous instrumentation on that one). I may be overdue a deep dive into Dolly's discography!

I mean, it's classic country music, so it's not going to be my thing. Dolly's a class act though. There's lots of personality in these songs, and they're nicely put together. This one is easy listening enough to work for me.

Very pleasant all around. Travelin Man and My Blue Tears are the standouts. (acoustic version of My Blue Tears is fantastic, actually). 3.7

Disclaimer: I’m not a big fan of country and Dolly’s helium-infused vocals wouldn’t be my first choice of what to listen to, but I really enjoyed this. Boy, was it sad at times. I felt a little tear trying to break through. Poor little girl with the dodgy coat. Sniff, sniff. Girl whose fella is leaving her for someone else. Sniff, sniff.

Extra star for the dodgiest rhyming and made-up-wordery and grammar.

“I sure wouldn’t telling”
“I didn’t told her”
“I reckon I ought’n’t”
“Don’t think I ever knowed you either”

She gets away with it because of her cute Southern accent 😃

This album is awesome. I will hear no words to the contrary.

Det var præcist hvad jeg tænkte det ville være..

Rated 6/10

Not really my kind of music, though I appreciate it is good quality in its genre. And Dolly is a singer/songwriter legend. There were a few tracks here that stood out for me - especially The Way I See You / Here I Am.

Rated 4/10

Country music just isn't for me, I tried it in its modern take, and it just sucks with its lyrics about trucks and beer. Dolly Parton, however, is a treasure of a human and her voice is lovely. It's a 2* for me. Lyrics a little saccharine at times.

Yay Dolly!

I really enjoyed this. Some great story-telling and humor. A little bit of Peace and Love with "A better Place to Live," some sweet gospel, some humor ("Travelin Man"). But it has my new favorite song, the stunningly beautiful "Early Morning Breeze."

Short and sweet. Dolly Parton has such an iconic voice and her songs are more interesting melodically and lyrically than the Porter Wagoner ones. Still great overall. Coat of Many Colors has a comfortable, folksy tone, simple instrumentation that highlights the songs and Dolly's lovely voice.

The good kind of country music

Warm feelings

Rated 6/10

Traveling Man is de positieve uitzondering.

Rated 4/10

Dolly Parton is an excellent individual, surely being one of the most likeable still-living celebrities, but at the end of the day her music is still my least favorite major genre of country. There are some things here that are interesting to listen to, from her mom stealing her boyfriend from under her nose to a good ol' cucking (who the fuck makes a song about cucking?), but the music is so repetitive and boring that I hardly want to listen to it. It isn't offensive musically as a lot of country tunes are nowadays, but it still isn't that great or anything.

Rated 6/10

She really is country royalty and this was an album I didn't dislike at all.
