Nice post punk, or is it punk tunes but none stood out from all the thrashing guitars.

Her voice is incredible and this includes the gorgeous I Get Along Without You Very Well but it is very much mood music and something that gives off a such a relaxed vibe it rolls over you like a wave and is gone.

Never before has industrial rocks sounded so beautiful. With haunting tracks like Hurt, and Closer where they try to out sexy-funk Prince the album is full of masterpieces.

Brilliantly bouncy, meaningful and rhythmic.

Quite quite boring.

Such as sad loss. What a legend. Good at everything she did and a good good person to boot, consistently decent. This was wonderful with such real life tales of woe and perfect stories, especially the title track.

I really loved Neon Bible and I had to keep checking that this was the same band as I found this, while nicely done, mostly just generic indie rock. Also, 16 songs gosh.

Never really listened to this band before. This is dream pop. I felt that some of the songs were incredible and then the next track, not too much and so on. I could never really settle with it. May need repeat listening.

Gosh, love Dire Straits but have always disliked this album, yep, one of the world’s best-selling albums of all time. Mainly because of Walk of Life, which I could always see being done by a bad busker. I also am of the opinion, often challenged, that although Money For Nothing is a sardonic message on capitalism, they must have known that the refrain I Want my MTV would have got them huge airplay, on MTV. Not having listened in years I went in with some trepidation only to remember that it is in fact an incredible album. From the The Man’s too strong to Brothers in Arms, each song is anthemic but Knopfler’s vocals are so quiet and gentle the impact is far greater than if he was screaming about the travesty of war.

This is like a vegetarian eating a prime steak, perfectly cooked by a famous French chef. No matter how good it is it will never be properly appreciated. Similarly, I am not a fan of the blues or live albums so I cannot do a review of this one justice.

This is one of those many albums on the list where you had to have been there, at that time, the day it was released. For me, it just sounds like Rock n Roll covers. I understand that this led to many different genres like punk and grunge but I found the rock n roll standards played to be quite fierce themselves so not sure what was added by the Sonic's approach. I really liked the band penned tracks here so three stars.

I had not heard of this 70s singer songwriter before. This was lovely, reminiscent of Stevie Wonder and like him Otis was a multi-instrumentalist playing most of the insturments on this album. Sounding folky, proggy, soulful and everything in between and is so relaxing.

Unsure about this one. Love Cure, they are intelligent songwriters but apart from the Hanging Garden it all seemed to whirl through me without touching the sides.

It certainly was a Good Beginning for me, after always being interested to hear this band, this is my first album. The vocals are sublime, the melody interesting, the use of an orchestra was like a fresh breeze. It is so well produced it is like the music is swirling in my brain. Only down point for me is because I don’t speak Icelandic, I have no idea what are the actual lyrics and at what point they are just speaking their unique blend of gibberish. One to buy.

I was expecting grunge but what I got seemed very alt – rock, post punk and I really liked it. It just seems so amiable and other reviewers have called it charming, and although that seems strange for a grunge band, I can relate to it. The band does just what they have to do and do it well without bells and whistles. High 3.

This was one I was dreading as I have always believed this was a band that I could get behind but somehow knew it was not going to be for me. It really wasn’t. I don’t even think it was the lack of lyrics; I also found the tunes to be quite meaningless. I can see why they went with scoring films, in that context, to have as a background while more interesting things are happening on screen, it works well. As far as I am concerned, a dream about tangerines would have been more interesting.
This was nice, great vibes.

So, after lots of jump scares when I get what I believe is a dance album. I have now redefined ambient as dance music that doesn’t make me want to grind my teeth in despair. This was an energetic yet thoughtful delight. It didn’t make four stars due to my usual dislike of samples and due to its running length, which meant that it outstayed its welcome somewhat.
I am really not a Talking Heads fan, hearing one too many times On the Road to Nowhere tainted my listening pleasure with them. Then I heard Fear of Music and all was mostly forgiven. This one seems to somewhere in the middle, I liked it and its unique new wave sensibilities but not one I would buy.

I almost had a fit when I saw I had to listen to another Bjork album. I found her Debut really dance-centric and annoying. This happily was different. There were still the rhythmic beats but here it called ambient and I liked it a lot more. Case in point, the knocking noises in the song Black Lake were quite disturbing at first but then I found them to be interesting and quirky. Good music makes you feel something, even uncomfortable, and this certainly moved me.
