Not unpleasant but I think I was expecting something a bit more lively and edgy. I don’t think this is an album that will stay long in the memory.

I’ve enjoyed discovering more of Bruce through this project but I knew this one would be coming up and it’s one I’ve previously found more of a challenge to enjoy listening to.
It’s certainly not the usual Bruce fare and the stripped back nature of it gives another side to his work. It’s still a bit of a challenge to engage with completely but an interesting listen.
Well this was an unexpected delight. Some great songs in here and just a general feel good vibe all round. Liked a lot of this one.

Just found this pretty dated and bland and probably should have just stayed where it belonged, back in the 80’s

Ok so you can see why the big hits were big hits at the time. Big sounding songs that eclipsed a lot of similar stuff released around the time. The filler songs weren’t great but less of them due to the number of big hits on this one.
Not music I’d ever listen to but can see why it has its place in pop history.

Quite like the cover of Henry Ramsay’s Mona
Some of the rest of it was alright, better than I was expecting (which was not that much based on the album cover!)
Rated 4/10
It sounded ok but I’m not sure an album can be considered great just because it sounds ok. Didn’t engage with it much but I appreciate there will be others finding this much more agreeable than I did.

This is not the colour of spring. Spring is about new life, reawakening after the cold, dark winter months, warmth returning, feeling like summer is just around the corner.
This is more like the colour of autumn. Grey, dark, miserable, dreary. Constant rain turning the earth into sludgy mud. More like the colour of a turd.

It’s great that people without rock star names can make records but maybe they shouldn’t.

If only he could have remembered not to make this record!
Rated 4/10
Some nice vibes but not much else of note
Rated 4/10
Not for me this one. Jus found it very difficult to get into and actually enjoy.
Rated 8/10
I wasn’t sure on first listen but by the third or fourth a lot of this had grown on me. Some very good songs on here and the album as a whole was a decent listen.

I quite enjoyed some of this, shades of Band Of Holy Joy about it.
Rated 6/10
Some very pleasant songs here some of which move away from the goofiness for which they were known until this point.

Interesting one. Had expected something similar to his Velvet Underground sound but this was much softer and folksier. I mean it wasn’t unpleasant but hardly got the pulse racing. A few nice songs though.
Rated 4/10
Musically ok (in places) but lyrically very poor.
Rated 4/10
Really not great. Cant really believe this is in the best 1001 albums ever made!
Rated 6/10
Pleasant enough, probably won’t ever listen again, but I can appreciate it was pretty good musicianship.

Ok so on the positive side it was better than I was expecting but on the negative side a lot of it was just rather boring. So many songs sounded just like the previous one. Suspect they could have switched at least half the songs and still had a half-decent album.
