TransformerLou Reed

Rated 8/10

Love this. His voice takes center stage which is perfect because lyrically it's super strong. Bowie's production shines too.

Kings of Leon getting not one but TWO albums on this list is wild. I could kind of get the other one just due to how big Sex on Fire is, but there's no excuse for this. It's not good.

100% essential. Obviously it's hugely influential towards all of modern rock, but it also just rocks in and of itself.

Definitely has those 80s-isms but I do enjoy how passionate and intense the vocals are. The epic instrumentals and strings work really well with his voice.

Honestly kicking myself for not listening to this before. This absolutely rips. Lyrically it's super intense and dark and instrumentally every song is really rocking. I think maybe the name scared me off previously but I'm glad I finally listened.

I liked this one more than the other I listened to here. There's a good mix of more "normal" songs with some cool experimental noise stuff.

It’s tough to argue against this being Jack White’s magnum opus. It’s got everything you want out of him. Every song is an absolute ripper and it’s just so damn raw and powerful.

Solid work that occasionally reaches near the highs of The Pixies but overall is mostly rather be listening to them. It’s a bit overstuffed as well at over an hour.

I really love the mix of industrial and post-punk here, two genres I really love. The album perfectly straddles the line between aggressive and infectious. It's harsh as hell but still danceable.

Love Muddy Waters. It's funny, he was one of the first on my list and now one of the last. Feels fitting. His voice is fantastic on this release, and the backing band does an amazing job.

This album is a great mix of their earlier, simpler pop songs and the weirder, more mature songwriting of their later era. So many incredibly catchy bops.

She has such a haunting voice. Very strong lyricism too. The music isn't exactly my thing but it isn't disruptive either. It suits her voice well.
