I don't care for metal largely. I love individual metal tracks and I love old punk and industrial and I'm a huge Mr. bungle fan...can't say why metal never clicked for me. Still, this is a complete album of its genre and it's clearly well-executed.

Some good riffs but for a band that seems lyrically focused the music seemed a bit messy? I like NOFX so I'm not against loud and obnoxiously heavy punk riffs. I just felt like the mix wasn't great for the message on several tracks and it felt a bit samey by the end. With NOFX, for example, I expect a "signature sound" that also includes bizarrely soaring harmony and solo work. Instrumentally this just didn't have enough range to hold my interest. Not a bad album but nothing really stood out.

I do not like Rod Stewart's voice. Never have. I always feel like he is insincere. Never understood the cultish presence around him. Still, this isn't a bad album or anything so I have to give it points for that. There are a couple of tolerable tracks on here such as Lady Day and You're My Girl. Mostly on account of the instrumentation and composition. The fake hillbilly act that pervades the album is kind of noxious.

Pretty snappy. Nice wee gothy new wavy thingy. Enjoyable with supple lamb, mint jellies, and generous ennui.

It's got a classic song on it and Don is wholly inoffensive but I also find it just sort of fine to listen to. Hammock music?

Really easy to fall into. I'd actually heard one of the latter tracks on a hi-fi mix for testing speaker placement for imaging and tone prior and always enjoyed it. I won't claim it is earth-shattering but that isn't what the album is after. It seems to be after, compositionally at least, getting you to relax and be like Ali on the album cover. Mission accomplished where I am concerned. I'll listen to this again. Wish I had any idea of the lyrics but I almost feel like looking them up has as much a chance of spoiling my good impressions as anything.

Rated 6/10

Despite my best efforts to not be impressed by Lou Reed or captivated by his schtick I have to bow to his clever themes and wordplay. He is pretty chill and I dig his stuff. I will never play it of my own accord but I will always listen to a minimum of four tracks on an album if proffered. He is very good at the thing that he does.

This lady is a weird singer and yet I am so fucking compelled by this album. I'd bet this would be great road trip music if I didn't have a seven-year-old currently. That closer track is some filth in the best way plausible. It's just a really interesting record.

This feels like a band I should know more about given the mix of musical influence. Never heard of them prior. I definitely enjoyed the album.

A bit too much in spots but has some really salient music even 22 years on. Bjork is ahead of a time. It's just not always clear what time that is.

I really enjoyed this. It was varied and interesting. I do think the rap schtick could use some polishing but that's ever been the case with Beck. Maybe that's the gag.

Weird ambient nonsense that was enjoyable enough. Not sure I'd spin it up for my own personal glee by I sure didn't mind it on a rainy summer morning.
