Wow a Zappa album I can get behind. The Gumb Variations gets a little played out towards the end but sure.

A folk album with a big single in Everybody's Talking. its pleasant for sure but I am not planning on revisiting this. Why was there a point in the mid 60s where everyone thought it was a good idea to end an album with like a 10 minute raga?

super political is how i like my punk and i hit the jackpot
Rated 6/10
The refreshing middling tones of brit pop to bring me back to even keel. Speedboat stinks, and Rattlesnakes could be good if the singer wasnt so....bland? Like pudding with raisins in it. Forest Fire is the first song that really gelled for me. over all its pretty meh, but i will take meh.

This fucking sucks. This really fucking sucks.
Rated 8/10
Frustration has my attention. Tainted Love has me in its claws. Seedy Films backs off of that stadium sound too much and just sort of feels bare. Sex Dwarf recaptures that sound that I think suits them best. Pretty rad!
Rated 4/10
Pretty cool street recording with house dub. Freaknik has this piercing synth that is just not pleasant.
Rated 4/10
This is like male Madonna stuff. very clinky and synthy. how ultimately dull.
Rated 6/10
Cool facets, but feels like a very small work.
I honestly have no idea what the fuck to do with Zappa's work. There is a lens that you need to view his work through and boy I don't got it. This is satyrical, absurd, and a real chore to listen to.

This music is magnificent. Its like a future, alien earth with humanity in such a different context. The harsh verb feels like its for this purpose of finding humanity in a bleak and dehumanizing sound context.
The opening has me interested. Welcome To The Pleasure Dome is a cool song. Relax is a good single, dripping with 80s cheese and hedonism. The covers are wild. Cool album for sure.
I love all of these lyrics. The sampling im not super into but i will take it. Its sad how little translation is required from something that came out in '92 and listening to it in '23.

Waits ability to drill down to the most excruciating detail is what takes this from artifice to a painting with sound that comes alive. Putnam County kills. Thoroughly great beat proto rap jazz club quintessential Tom.
Rated 6/10
This is hardcore? okay. This is a punk album much like other punk albums on the list. This album gets dull in the back half.
Rated 8/10
Hello is thunderous. Send My Love is great. The front half is a completely air tight pop sound scape. The back half is more ballady but this is a really good album!
Rated 10/10
Celebrity Skin is a great song. This album fucking rocks. See: Reasons To Be Beautiful. Northern Star is a good one. You can really tell Billy Corgan's fingerprints on this album.
Hard Coming Love is really grating on me this morning. this album is a visionary pioneer of 60's noodling, noise, and bullshit. Love Song For The Dead Che is fine.
Rated 8/10
Smooth as the day is long.

Very 60's garage. These guys fly through Good Golly Miss Marley. I can see why they are as influential as they are. Sort of a band's band. but meh I could pass this as just another early garage band.
