Solid interesting album to dance to or get some energy, it's a bit long and it's obviously a bit controversial in places but it's overall pretty good

One hell of a successful reinvention

Always felt strange as one of their most beloved albums, the Beatles do all sorts of weird pastiche and parody here for like 90 minutes before ending it with a bunch of sound collage and noise. Don't get me wrong I like it but it seems like it would be more divisive then it is, especially on this site where a sizable portion of listeners get frightened by anything that isn't soft rock

Was an excellent breakout record but there is a very special follow-up to this

Oh man this is great! Never thought to check out Femi Kuti but I'm glad it's on the list

THE Michael Jackson album in my opinion - the next few see him try and engineer the perfect album on paper but this is the perfect album in practice. It's also the perfect disco album - a-side is all 10/10 classics that emphasize the beats and funky elements, second half breathes in some variety. It's not too short or too long. It sounds forward thinking and you can link in 80s and later R&B, whereas a lot of 70s disco like Chic kinda feels a bit exclusive to that time this pushes forward in a really interesting way

Really special experience to hear this all the way through
This feels a bit outdated and uninteresting for 1966 music until California Dreaming - that flute solo! The vocals sound so interesting and a bit off/creepy against the instrumental, I don't know the music theory unfortunately but what a track. There are a few other solid tracks and it's not unpleasant overall so would have gone 2*, but California Dreaming brings it up to 3* for me

Cool record, production is all stellar and it's just a great direction change after Blur
Rated 8/10
Just a beautiful wonderful record this is
Rated 6/10
Solid record, they go a lot poppier here but it does work well for them
Rated 2/10
I feel conflicted here because I really don't like this - it has the worst of adult contemporary scattered throughout, even at best it is passionate and well produced but I don't know how well this style of singing works with this style of production at all. Like the beats here are very 90s r&b mostly and they drag 5, 6 minutes with no variation on the singing at all. I think I would go 2* if this was shorter but it is so unnecessarily long and frankly I can't understand the rationale for this being here. Is there not a better version of this style they could include?
Convinced Eric Clapton might have left his soul behind on this one with the way he plays here, such a great collection and worthy double album
Rated 8/10
Tbh this is a classic, it's not comparable to the great soul records but it's kind of playful and meta, the next one does all of it much better
Rated 8/10
So sick, the sax is awesome the riffs often heavy and even Hardcore esque, the vocals reminiscent of riot grrrl stuff a few years later.
Rated 6/10
Decent enough
Rated 4/10
Undeniably pretty interesting technique wise but I think the momentum is all over the place and the piano is mixed weirdly quiet tried a different mix and I still couldn't crack it - can see it being higher but have to go 2 for now
Rated 6/10
Really enjoyed this gonna have to come back another time because the riffs and the vocals here are all excellent, grungy and just great to listen to
It's mostly strong but the hard rock stuff is not good at all, sorry Bruce
Rated 8/10
Seems like nobody really liked this (not just the anti-rap weirdos on here but across a lot of different platforms) but really special I think, futuristic and strange and a bit of a gem
