Huh. I actually thought I liked this album more than I do. I think Bound 2 is one of the highlights of Kanye's career but the rest of this is kind of the worst. Not even looking to start in on Kanye himself.

Good album, I really liked Orange Moon and Green Eyes. Just probably won’t be one that comes to mind as something I really need to listen to again.

Season: Late Autumn
Favorite Song: Orange Moon

This album felt more like a concert than an album. And that’s not like, my favorite thing? It was a good album but I thought I was close to the end and then It’s Gonna Be A Beautiful Night just kept going forever. This is like, a very high 3 for me.

You know, I really love Just What I Needed and expected to like the rest of the album but it was just… fine.

Ok so, I think I owe Paul Simon a formal apology. In my review for Graceland, I wrote that “His solo career post Simon & Garfunkel had promise but Graceland was a difficult and confusing choice made by a man trying to find himself again in other people’s culture.” And you know what… when I wrote that I thought higher of Simon & Garfunkel. But now, after listening to this and Bookends, I want to say that maybe Simon & Garfunkel wasn’t as great as I thought. And maybe Paul Simon had to do what he could to regain relevance.

Onto this album though, there were exactly 2 songs I had heard from this album prior, Homeward Bound and 7 O’Clock News. And those are probably the only ones I will relisten to. Mostly Homeward Bound although 7 O’Clock News makes an interesting christmas playlist.

Season: Early Winter
Favorite Song: Homeward Bound

Incredibly 2012 Tumblr feeling. Really shockingly bland. Felt like it belonged in a short Hulu series about young millennials.

I just felt a little unimpressed. Picking a favorite song felt difficult but not because there were so many good options.

Wow, this album really took me through a whole range of emotions. But like, lowkey /neg. Some of these songs are already on my playlists. The rest of them did not exactly compel me to add to rotation.

Rated 6/10

This album made me go and lower the rating I gave the other R.E.M. album. It’s just so much better to me. Almost almost a 4. Most every song was either a 3 or a 4 on it’s own.

Season: Late Spring
Favorite Song: Radio Free Europe

I would rate it high for the genre. Love a short little album, was good to listen to for the time I was listening. Probably not going back to this one but wouldn’t hate to hear it out in public at a state fair or something.

Yeah it just feels weird ranking something that I remember coming out. Idk. There’s some great hits on here, I like thinking about how an album like this impacts later releases in her solo career. But on the other hand… eh.

There’s something about The Kinks that makes me respect them a little more than the Beatles. I think it’s because I kind of think that they believe what they are saying more than the Beatles? Don’t crucify me though, I literally cannot care about either band less. Hence the down the middle score.

Ok I kind of think that I am much harder on albums/bands that are more recent and I never took the time to investigate but am now learning from this project that I don’t like.

Season: Early Fall
Favorite Song: Starlight

Definitely a different time… but I do love a draft dodging song. This album took me through a whole range of emotions in a nice, short package. There were some songs I liked the sound of and some that I liked the lyrics of. My Uncle is also joining regular rotation.

Season: Late Summer
Favorite Song: My Uncle
Runner Up: Dark End Of The Street

I can only imagine how cool it must have been to be a teenager when this came out. Unfortunately when I was a teenager everyone I knew was listening to Brendon Urie. Anyways, good album. Felt a little all over the place ranging from iconic to uncomfortable (for me). A solid 3.
