The whitest man who ever whited taking “inspiration” from African music to make an absolute fortune? A story as old as Elvis. At least Paul Simon doesn’t touch kids.

I don't know quite who this is for. There are a few songs that are approaching being quite good, but there's also a whole lot of weird caterwauling going on. The lyrics are a whole thing in and of themselves, but the whole thing is only 37 minutes, which I appreciate. I'm thinking this is a 2.5 star album.
On my own personal rating scale, I have 3 as "I will happily listen to this playing in the background," and 2 is "I will tolerate this playing in the background." I think "tolerate" is a bit strong, but it's closer to how I'd feel than "happy."

It's pretty OK, I suppose. It's pretty funny that he seems to have made a whole "opera" about a one night stand.

Very 80s new wave. It’s not awful, but I’m not putting it into any rotation. 2.5 stars.

Pretty good, if a bit forgettable. 3.5 stars

Awesome. I know this style isn’t en vogue anymore, but this was a banger back in the day. Really nice trip down memory lane, and I honestly think it holds up nicely.

Fine.

Masterpiece. The first album to really marry R&B quality singing with top-tier rapping - and it was a woman! Incredibly influential and one of the best debut albums of all time.

This is the fifth album Costello album I’ve gotten on this project. The best thing I can say about tablet it is that I only have one more to slog through before I’m done with this fraud forever.
I grew up in the 90s and I have never heard this album. I wish I could still say the same.
How in the unholy FUCK does this project not have a single Deftones album, but I've been subjected to Kid Rock and now this.
I now understand why "nu-metal" has a bad reputation.

This is excellent. Instead of listening to the other album I have for the day, I listened to this three times and then let the algorithm play. It's feeding me a bunch of Frank Ocean, Massive Attack, James Blake, The Acid, and Radiohead. Overall an excellent morning, thanks to this album.
It's an easy 4, maybe even 4.5 if we had half stars. I think the guy's vocals don't mesh with me as well as the woman's, but musically this is really well done.

German music just isn’t very pleasant.
Rated 6/10
They Won't Go When I Go is terrific. The rest of the album is fine.
Rated 4/10
Besides for a few outliers, 70s rock is extremely boring and mediocre. This album is not one of those outliers. If you've heard any 70s rock or watched a Vietnam war movie, you've basically heard this.
Rated 6/10
This was a bit of a surprise. I've never heard of it, and based on the band name, release year, and album cover, I thought it was going to be a tough listen - and it wasn't! It was kind of weird in a good way: shades of punk, pop, psychedelic, maybe even a little New Wave. An interesting listen.

Here's the rating scale I'm using to rate these albums:
5: I will happily play this album anytime
4: I may occasionally play this album of my own free will
3: I will happily listen to this if someone plays it in the background
2: I will tolerate this if it is playing in the background
1: I will leave the room if someone plays this in the background
This album is the very definition of a 3 rating. It's pleasant enough. I'd be perfectly fine hearing it in the background while sitting in a coffee shop. I'd probably struggle to realize when the album switched from this to any of a hundred other indie singer/songwriter/guitar strummers.
Rated 4/10
I don't know what I expected this to be, but I was wrong in the worst way. I don't really know what this is. Yacht Rock? Disco? 80s bubblegum pop? I had heard one of the songs and it's fine. The rest of the album is not.
Rated 4/10
Oh good, ANOTHER Elvis Costello "masterpiece" to suffer through. That's six albums now, if anyone is counting. I can hear the sad hipsters bristling as we speak: "There are only TWO Elvis Costello albums! The other four are Elvis Costello and the Attractions!"
I don't care about your dumb technicalities. It's the same shitty music, the same shitty voice, the same shitty sound, the same shitty experience. It's shitty times six.
Rated 4/10
I don't understand the allure. It just kind of drones on. It's probably the best of the Joni Mitchell albums I've been forced to listen to, but that's a very low bar.

You know what's fairly surprising? She doesn't actually have a very good voice. Britney Spears was THE teeny bopper pop star in the early aughts, but she has nowhere near the pipes of Christina Aguilera or P!nk.
OK, but musically...it stinks. It's just an overproduced hodge podge of recycled pop beats. The writing, however, is where it really shines. Ha! Just kidding. Have you ever heard any pop music from any era? Then you've heard these stories told in the exact same way. I'm going to give it 2 stars because I really try to reserve 1 star for stuff that is so bad it makes me mad, but this is 1.5 stars at best.
