Knights in brown and denim . Country rock Americana . Well the Canadian version of that .

Okay but never great . Too many songs sound the same, even with different singers. Can we talk about how some of the songs are just terrible.

Pity the album does not live up to the cover . Sadly Dylan’s only contribution to this

Prog rock meets show tunes . I know it’s well done but I just find it dull

Sweeping the gamut from amazing to boring while always being way to Ernest and deep for its own good. And that’s just the first song.

Would be 3 stars if it was not so long and over-bloated . A trim single album would be almost good

Amateurish, avant-garde punk that is surprisingly hard to rate as it is It’s easy to listen to. The Country-infused punk makes for an interesting combination.

I’m not sure what’s more surprising: how much I enjoyed this, or how an album I’d never heard of has (rightly) found its way onto so many best-of-the-80s lists. Some tracks tread perilously close to sounding like Benny Hill backing music, but overall, it’s a thoroughly enjoyable listen.

Johnny cash walks the line between honky tonk and novelty and comes out on the right side of the bars … just

Great live album that has a rawkus crowd and some good interplay

Not sure I’ll be as forgiving on the next album of his from a prison - which is a pity as it s probably the better album

ElectricThe Cult

Rated 8/10

Just like Bob Dylan going “Electric”was seen by some as a sell out.

To the patchouli army from Planet X ( the Liverpool nightclub not the planet) switching from goth to hard rock is bad enough let alone actually being commercial successful and good at it.

I like both iterations of the cult although this album does have some real filler songs - like Electric Ocean and most surprisingly is a prosaic cover of born to be wild

(GI)Germs

Rated 6/10

Punk that’s actually quite good Oh it’s from the 70s not the 90s - well that makes sense then

Very few can do what Kanye can he is that talented . It’s a pity his contemporaries are all bellends as well . He is ratified company with the like of Morrissey, Kid rock, and that guy from Pantera

Love the art hate the artist

Grand filmic suite that slips nar to industrial : for a film that does not exist

The first few minutes are dull but the actual soundtrack when it starts is interesting. Kind of loses the cohesion when listening in isolation. The story and the liner notes would really help

Otis has one of the best soul/blues voices ever .

Brilliant enough to make staid over covered songs sound fresh and vibrant ( my girl, wonderful world , etc)

The 80s did a disservice to those classics but this makes me appreciate them again.

Piano man is a genre right?

These are good songs well executed. Elton is a good singer and the production is nice if if it’s time .

Would I listen to this album if someone played it for me , probably , but would I put it on myself - probably not. 2.5 /5

Apparently Tony Danza is Leaving - well at least that’s what it sounds like.

Reasonably good indie rock. Has a distinct 90s feel to although it’s a decade too late for that .

Not sure why it’s on the list . Good but unremarkable

Street life is a brilliant song on a good album

Smooth funky jazz . The lack of a singer on most of the songs , after the eponymous opening track, kind of relegates this to background music .

While I will buy this on vinyl I’ll probably only play it as background music for a dinner party

While The Suburbs definitely deserves a place on this list, I’m not convinced it’s actually any good.

The zeitgeist of mid-to-late 2000s alternative rock: meandering, well-played indie, but it’s just not for me.

Ironically, for an album that rails against suburban sprawl and the loss of identity, it embraces both musically.

a departure from the beach boys you might expect with dark and plainly weird songs. Laudable but not listenable

Please allow me to introduce my review , I’m a man of wealth and taste.

I think the Stones are overrated and are a band that makes good singles not albums … can you guess my score ..

Pleases doctor followed by Parachute Woman kind of proves me right butSympathy is such a great song ( although I prefer Jane’s addictions version) , and most of the album is quite good.
