I can't quite work out what this wants to be, sounds like some mashup of Springsteen, Arcade Fire and other Americana. Either way, it's all very middle of the road.

I'd started listening to this with headphones, found myself getting irritated, so switched to a speaker, much better listening experience. Still not really something for a typical Wednesday morning, would be better in a late night setting.

Usual stuff, I liked the singles but not too fussed about the album.

As if I'd been transported inside my computer, surrounded by a dreamlike stream of ones & zeros and curly braces. I have become one with our technological overlord. I know kung-fu!

I was familiar with a few of the songs, but really not the album as a whole. Everyone tells you that it's a great album, one of the best. I can't help get that nagging feeling to rebel against it, being too overcritical.

So, I'll stop overthinking it and just enjoy this great album!

Part genius, part batshit crazy. The first half was more interesting than the second half. Gonna have to re-listen to their Future Days album to see how it compares. 2.5

On the surface, there's much to dislike with this album, but it unexpectedly turned out to be an incredibly absurd and beautiful album!

I was fully expecting to dislike this album, and I mostly did... but there were a few tracks that stood out and, dare I say, enjoyed!

It's an odd album, Aguilera seems to want to be both a modern R&B soulstress and Xtina dirty sex siren, which seems disastrous, probably why she went "Back to Basics" for her follow-up album.

Red Snapper, a band is never heard of, and doubt will ever hear about again. This album was fine to have on in the background whilst pottering around the kitchen.

NOW! That's What I Call Music for duck-faced teenagers!

Old grey doesn't get it, sounds like commercial churn to me. All warbling and ASRM appeasing toss.

It's a pleasant Friday evening, you're settled on the sofa with a glass of wine watching Later with Jools Holland. Gillian Welch comes on, does a few songs, it's lovely. You decide to buy her album. You play it once, then forget about it. Until one day it surprisingly pops up in this 1001 list, and it makes you think... is Later with Jools Holland still on the telly?

I wasn't aware of this band. Probably much loved by whatever the 70s equivalent of emos are. Tried to be dark and brooding, but I found it uninteresting.
