Wow. Right after Dee-Lite, huh?

I was shocked to find a second CHIC album popped up, as I really did not like the last one. So I was very not excited to listen.

Actually, this one was alright. Maybe my recent funk kick bled over to my appreciation? I don’t know. One thing that I did appreciate is they didn’t make me listen to someone eat potato chips.

I was between a 2 and a 3 on this. It started out strong. Had a good vibe, but wasn’t really something I’d chose to listen to. And, after some research, the lead singer seems like a cool person.

Ultimately, them making me listen to someone eat potato chips got it the 2.

I remember this album. I listened to it when it came out. Once.

Upon another listen…it’s alright. It is well performed and fun to listen to. It’s overall not my thing, but I appreciate it for what it is.

Back to albums I wasn’t excited to listen to.

Actually, I kind of liked this. It was more melodic than I expected, and had some 4 star and even 5 star moments. Unfortunately, it drug out with screams that I didn’t like, so evened out to a 3.

Being from Des Moines, I’m never asked, “Do you know any of the Slipknot guys?”

No, but I helped one once when I worked retail. He was nice enough. He’s dead now.

I was complaining to Ian a week or two ago that it’d been awhile before we were given an album I was excited to listen to.

I was excited to listen and liked it quite a bit.

I was very ready to complain about us getting our, what, 20th? hour long boring album from the 90s in a row.

But this was great!

As I’ve been expanding my hip hop and rap consumption, I’ve avoided 50 Cent. I think I always associated him with club music.

I wasn’t excited to listen to this, and was pleasantly surprised at how much I liked it.

Overall, this was great, but I’m knocking it down a star for some of the awfully offensive stuff in there. Do better, 50.

40 minutes of noise that didn’t hold my attention. This was almost something I would’ve liked. Maybe if I heard this in college, I would’ve loved it.

RIP, Brian. You made some great music. Early Beach Boys always brings me back to my childhood and listening to this brought me back to a “beach party” my elementary school had in the gym with hotdogs and french fries in paper trays, beach towels, and The Beach Boys playing.

This was fine. I’ve never been into Bob Mould, but I’ve liked that new song of his on the radio.

This has got a couple great songs on it. Faith. Father Figure. The rest is pretty good, but not my jam and very 80s.
