I wish I liked this more. I feel like I should. I just thought it was alright

Began a little weird for the first couple of tracks and improved over the duration. Wilmot was the high point, and if they were all that good, this could have been four stars. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case, and I think this album overstayed it's welcome by about 10-15 minutes.

I haven't listened to this since the late 80s when it was EVERYWHERE. I went through a phase later (in the 90s) where I considered this bad music, unworthy of my time. Since then, I have acknowledged the power of some of these songs (Wanted Dead or Alice, Living on a Prayer, You Give Love a Bad Name, etc) because of their seemingly universal appeal and staying power. Still wasn't listening on purpose though.
I haven't ever heard any of this album on anything but car speakers and shitty bar speakers, and listening now on good gear, I'm impressed by the recording quality and happy to hear all of the detail I have been missing.
Another reviewer said at the beginning of his review "There are countless incurable diseases, and the only thing that hurts me so much is the unrepeatability of childhood." This stopped me in my tracks, and as I read the rest of the review, it described my feelings perfectly and made me wish I was more eloquent. Because they've already reviewed this album and moved on, they'll never know how meaningful their words were to me. Thank you, all the same.
This is good music and I'm having fun listening to it for both its merit and for the nostalgia. This is going in my library today

When I think of "punk rock," this is exactly what I'm thinking about. I'll be adding this album to my library.
I have previously heard of the band, but this is my first listen. I'm impressed. "Moving Away From the Pulsebeat" is fucking dangerous. I'm already listening as loud as I dare, and I just want to crank it up even more

I like Morrissey. This album makes me like him even more. I'm really enjoying this. I'll be putting this in my library immediately.
That said, NOBODY SHOULD BE ON THIS LIST MORE THAN TWICE. And two albums should be a really rare exception.
Also, I really don't like commenting on the comments of other reviewers, but who gives a shit if you like this guy personally? We're listening to music, not reviewing the moral character of artists. Shut the fuck up and listen to music. Nobody is ever pure enough for you all. "I heard George Harrison pulled the legs off a grasshopper once. Totally unlistenable."

I'd rather not rate this with five stars, but it's above 4.5, so...

With my middling knowledge of Spanish, it was fun to try and figure out what the songs were about. I had little success, but it was still fun.
Great voice, great instrumentation, fun to listen to. I think I'll go listen to some French cafe jazz and equally enjoy the rest of my Sunday. Thanks for the inspiration, Jacques!

I have no idea what this was, nor do I understand why it's an essential album, but I'm not complaining about it. I had a good time observing just where in the hell this was going and trying to figure out what it is

On paper, I should hate this album. The genre, their stated influences, description of the album/band all tell me "RUN!"
I'm not sure what about this album is compelling and interesting, but I'm very happy to be experiencing it right now. I honestly couldn't ask for much more at this moment. Never heard of this band before, but I'll be adding the album to my library and exploring their other works

Pretty fun! This album was in my own library before, and it continues to earn its keep

A lot of reviews out here bitching about a pretty solid live rock album...
I'll be listening to this again, and probably adding it to my personal collection

I guess it's not the Beach Boys I love; it's Brian Wilson. I'll use a quote from the artist himself: "Musically, I'm far apart from Brian. He's a hundred times more than what I am musically." I agree.
When I listen to Pet Sounds or Smile, I am so enthusiastic about them, I lament having to assign a number to them, because five stars seems too low. They're more than perfect, and I don't know how you express that. I am not getting even close to those same feelings here.
Perhaps it's unfair to the artist to even make comparisons and take him on his own merits. If that's the case, this album is different from others at the time; he was definitely doing his own thing, which is commendable. Although different, I don't find it particularly special. Not offensive by any stretch, but there's nothing here that makes me want to come back to it again. I had more fun reading his Wikipedia article than I did listening to the album. That, I might read again
Unenthusiastically ⭐⭐⭐, I guess

There are a few songs on this album that are worthwhile, but to me, most of them feel like filler. I skipped a few and wished I would have skipped a few more

This is a tough one to evaluate for me. On one hand, I liked it. On the other, I can't imagine the circumstances when I'd intentionally listen again. There's some weird shit in here, but not weird shit that's bad. I really appreciate the grooves and dub feel. I had to read the band's Wikipedia article in order to find out this is Johnny Rotten, a former Clash member, and Jah Wobble. This doesn't make the album any more or less enjoyable, but it gives it context to better understand what's happening here.
As this album goes on, I'm really starting to get into this. I can't describe what I like, but it's now in my personal collection.

This wasn't bad, but I'm not sure how I feel about it exactly. I think I'll need to take another pass at this one

This guy has two songs: Pump it Up and all the other ones.
I am SO tired of Elvis Costello. This is my fourth album from him (second in 3 weeks). Two to go. Every time I refresh the app to get the day's album, it's like Russian roulette for Elvis Costello albums. Sometimes I wonder if playing real Russian roulette is favorable to more Elvis Costello. I just absolutely do not get why people / critics ride this guy's dick at every turn.
The best I can say is "this is average," but I don't feel like average is enough for this list
I worked myself up into a shitty mood in the shower, and pretty much hate everything right now. Even with that going on, this is still pretty good

If you took every album that came out in the 60s and put it in a meat grinder, you'd get sausage that tastes like this album.
Not great. Not terrible. LarryDavid_eh.gif
