This doesn't do much for me. I had (and loved) Brothers In Arms as a kid, but outside of the hits, I've never heard anything else. Sort of surprised by how southern rock this sounds, especially coming from a British band. This was mostly tolerable, but started to wear on me toward the end.

Maybe I'm in a more amenable mood than usual, but I didn't hate this. Sure it's acoustic. Sure it's folk or at least folk-adjacent. But there's something "dark" for lack of a better term that seems to exist just below the surface of the harmonies, and that makes me at least a little interested in it. In all honesty, I'm starting to think that's Art's influence since Paul's solo work feels so different.

With ex-members from Blur and The Clash, plus Tony fucking Allen I really anticipated that this would be a previously undiscovered gem, and I would love it after listening for the first time. Big disappointment. This just sounds like most of the other unenthusiastic indie I've heard from this era of music. It just plods along at a lazy pace, with each track sounding like the last. Instrumentation is well-played, but there is simply nothing I can get excited about listening to it.

On the one hand, the music is pretty great; really interesting and very dreamy. The vocals however, are AWFUL. And not just bad, but bad AND don't seem to complement the music so much as distract from it. Would love to hear someone strip this down into an instrumental album.

Did NOT expect this to open with some bastardization of surf rock! First two tracks were almost good enough that I worried I might like something this POS created. Good thing he lived up to my initial expectations by filling the rest of the album with the usual whiney, self indulgent, melancholic crap.

I'm not going to downvote this JUST because Kanye is a piece of shit (though it's hard to not let it influence my listen). Everybody already knows that. I'm downvoting this because it's just musical gibberish. The production has nothing unique or special that draws me in. The lyrics mostly sound like unrelated nonsense crammed together to force a rhyme. No idea why this guy was ever considered a "genius".

George has got a nice voice and the instrumentation here is performed really well (some very cool pedal steel). I just can't get into this whiney "woe is me" style of country. Sorry your dog died, your wife left you, and your truck won't start.

Without a doubt my favorite Wu solo album. A clinic in perfect '90s hip-hop production. It's stripped down and grimy, like old film, pushed for contrast. Rhymes are mixed with the obvious intention of complimenting that rather than overpowering it. This album truly creates a mood (again cinematic) most hip-hop never even considers. Bonus points for the Shogun Assassin samples. Father U Cee King the police!

Incredible album. Arguably defined how the early '80s would sound. Just What I Needed is one of the first songs I can remember falling in love with as a four year old, riding around with my dad in his van. Hits stacked on top of hits. I cannot express how much I love this album.

Great proto-punk here. Didn't appreciate it when I was younger, taking the lyrics way too seriously. This is a ripper, full of garage-style punk rock with tongue-in-cheek humor.

My favorite Sabbath album, and arguably my favorite album ever made. Nothing like this existed before and it influenced over 50 years of music. This is a perfect album start to finish.

I've hated the title track of this album most of my life. Was not looking forward to listening to a whole album, but I did, and I was right. Nothing against Don or his fans, I just hate this type of music. Shoutout to a few small parts of The Grave for being almost listenable.

Fats was one of my father's absolute favorites so I've had a lifetime of exposure to his music. This is classic proto-rock 'n' roll. It's not just simple blues, it's become something more, and arguably this is where it all started.

Better than most of the early "classics" that people are astonished I don't like. I dig the heavy use of the blues here, especially when the the keys are featured. Overall it feels lazy though. Blues riffs are very basic and sterile. The songs all blend together into background music aside from a few. Still nothing I'm likely to ever listen to again.
