I like to complain a lot about the 60s/70s folk/soul picks and that you probably don’t need to listen before you die. But I really enjoyed this album. I can give this a strong 4.

From the very first song, I knew this was going to be an instant 5 stars. Great production with great singers and samples. I could dance to this for a long time. But the greatest thing of all is that it’s interesting. Much better than a Costello or Kings Of Leon album. It sounds like it would be made at the turn of the 80s/2000s if the 90s didn’t exist at all. The album has some cool cover art as well!
As to some of the reviewers calling this “weird french music,” it’s not french. It’s british. And the guy behind it was VERY influential in the 90s/2000s house space. He’s produced records for Madonna and the Pet Shop Boys. And of course, he’s produced music under his many side projects, like Les Rythmes Digitales and Zoot Woman. Long story short, this is a great album and I’m sad to see that most people here don’t give it the recognition it deserves.

I’m sorry but how does this have a higher rating than all 85 hip hop albums here? Is it because it has Neil Young’s name on it? I think so. If 4 women made this album, it wouldn’t be here at all.

Not exactly the biggest funk fan but its not bad

Music for people who think that they’re “misunderstood” but they actually just don’t wear deodorant. I didn’t wear deodorant until I was 13 and I would have loved this album if I listened to it then. But good hygiene comes with good music taste I guess.

There is so much I could say about this album so I’ll just say that it brings me to tears every time I listen to it. An album like this was due to be made at the time and Pink Floyd was the perfect band to do it.

The epitome of late 60s/early 70s bullshit. There are 104 albums here just released in the period from 1969-71 alone. Imagine if there were 104 albums here from 2014-16? That would be ridiculous! And I’m willing to bet that out of the 104 albums from 69-71, maybe only about 20-30 are actually albums you must hear before you die. The only people who actually listen to David Crosby are boomers. And these are the same type of boomers that call rap boring or metal annoying while listening to virtually the same song over and over again. This album in particular isn’t even that great for country standards, if you would consider it country. All while leaving out important country singers like Hank Williams Sr. and Garth Brooks. Oh, and I forgot to mention, a few of the songs on this album have Neil Young as a writing credit. And even on the songs that he didn’t have credits for, you can tell they were very Young inspired. Does everything that Neil Young has ever made and everyone that he has influenced need to be on this list? Unbelievable.

This is good but being good 11 times over makes you boring

There’s a saying that the best ATCQ album is the first one you listened to. For me, that was Midnight Marauders, which should’ve absolutely been included in the book. But the two albums here are also amazing. They are a group that (at least half of the time) raps about things other than drugs and violence or objectifying women. The jazzy beats are more interesting than 75% of actual jazz. I found myself several times focusing on the beats. On top of all of that, it really helps that Q-Tip has a really entrancing voice. Overall, one of the best albums I’ve gotten so far. RIP Phife Dawg

It didn’t suck. But I don’t plan on listening to this again. I could think of 1001 better albums.

I felt like I was eavesdropping on a college volleyball team’s locker room at midnight drinking after winning a game, which is basically what it is. This album is so bad that it actually works. That’s one way of saying that I would rather listen to this than any Elvis Costello, Kings Of Leon, or Dexy’s Midnight Runners album.

Good but all the songs sound very similar.

As I was reading the reviews, I noticed that people were talking about this album in a negative manner, mentioning that Mike used virtually every instrument ever created while recording this album. However, I would like to note something that nobody else has seemed to mention. The first 14 minutes of the 1st track contains dabbling on a keyboard with very high-pitched notes. Why is this important, you may ask? Well, the answer has to do with the United States government. It’s a known fact that the government uses birds to spy on everyday civilians, including you and me. But it’s common to note that birds are extremely sensitive to high frequencies. Given that, I had the brilliant idea to loop the first 14 minutes of Tubular Bells pt. 1 and play it outside near all the bird nests. Since then, I haven’t seen a bird in ages! And I would highly recommend that you do the same. And the best part, you can even enjoy the music! Together, we can make a change. Place a tape containing the first 14 minutes of this album near all the bird nests and watch as the government surveillance props fly away! That’ll make the IRS mad!
