I was about to put sad dolly Parton and then she covers one of Dolly Parton songs about empowerment and made it sad. So. Sad dolly Parton. Pretty good though.

Nice to see he's learned how to sing by the third album. Too bad it's now eye watering boring. Can we just put the one song on best music list and leave us out of this. Even the name of the album recognizes the only good thing on here. The wes Anderson song at the end is good too

Obviously this had a cultural impact when it was released. The music is definitely not what I expected though. The style is quite a hodgepodge of styles. More eclectic than I thought. It's good but I can't imagine when I would listen to it.

It's good. I feel like it's anachronistic to the American folk style of years before? I also feel like it's very influential to guitar rock of the 70's? Really dry in a lot of instances but when it gets a groove it's good.

I'm afraid to look at the reviews of this album. On a personal level bjork always exists for me in the happiest of memories. This album in particular when it came out I was living in a very fun enchanted time of my life. As an album I think she was running out of steam as a pop artist. When the songs on this album fell the most mainstream they feel duller and she sounds bored. But the best songs are where she starts to veer into something ethereal. I had this album and listened to it over and over again but I don't think I've ever listened to the last 4 songs since I bought it. I'm giving it a five because fuck the bjork hate, but in her discography I'd give it a 4. There are better sounding albums of her but this is my favorite emotionally.

Not terrible. Loud angry music in the 90's is much better than than post punk crap in the 80's. At least it's listenable.

Country pop. Not what I expected. The dancier stuff I could see dancing too slightly drunk at a country bar. The am radio stuff is dull. Ok

This feels very alternate reality. What if alt country became the Nirvana? It's ok but really doesn't feel culturally relavent

I genuinely don't know if this music existed before him and he made it popular, he invented it, or was just capitalizing off an existing genre, but... It's fine? I listened to volume 1 for over an hour in the car and had no idea when I one song ended and another started. But it wasn't terrible or worse brain melting boring. But it was just like having white noise on. It was. Fine.

I feel like every music theory professor in every mid tier community college has this album on them.. proficient? Yes. Technically interesting? Yes. Good? No. Unique? Again no.

I have a hard time rating this. It feels like this is a cliche but I assume it wasn't when it came out? But I really don't know what that means In terms of my rating. It was fine as a background to driving my car.

Do I not understand British humor? It feels like this is some sort of parody I don't get. It's so bad.

What a waste of an amazing band name. Wouldn't this be better served as being put on the best indie singles list? Because the rest of the album is garbage

These jangle guitar bands just sound like background noise by the second song. When they hit it's good, but there is a lot of static on between it

This is why I am on this list. An album I don't have the patience to listen to all the way through that makes me sit down and listen to it, and I'm grateful for it. There are albums on here that are more traditional pop albums that are more repetitive and boring then this. They seem to know how to create music that changes just enough to keep the music interesting, and they also seem to understand when to end a song. This is what I want Brian Eno to be. Also so many musicians I like now I hear they blatantly stole sounds from this album. its really good.
