I don't really know this band except for the two big songs that are both on this album. I didn't really like the first few tracks, but once "And When I Die" hits, it was all good. That song and "Spinning Wheel" are remarkable and also deeply weird. With "God Bless the Child" in between, we're in four-star album territory. Little drum solo and we're out. Good night.

I'd be honored to give this a five, because it is mostly awesome, but there's that bit with all the grunting and whatnot and that sort of goes on for too long.

This album is demanding I give it a 4 or a 2.

LOVE and HATE on the knuckles.

It does not want to be a 3. It's asking me to stand for something. Stop being so milquetoast. Shit or get off the pot.

Not for me. I had to pause the album a few times and put on YouTube videos of dreamy-sounding modulation and delay pedals for guitar.

I think I used to get Violent Femmes and Jane's Addiction confused in my head. I never really liked either, tbh. At least what I heard on the radio in the 90s. Anyway, I already knew five of the ten songs on the original album from 1983(!). And they're from Milwaukee??

I enjoyed this. It sort of feels like a comedown from a climax that took place before the recording began.
