I grew up with this one. But i haven't heard it in about 45 years. Still remembered every note.

Very cool

There's a reason these guys aren't as well known as the other Seattle bands

Absolutely love the drums and guitars on this album! Unrelenting. And despite some other reviewers, I really don't think he takes himself seriously at all. He gets exactly what he's doing

This album came out during my senior of high school. So yeah, I'm familiar. It was everywhere and unavoidable. Even though I thought it was pretty sucky back then I decided to give it a fair listen to now. It's so much worse than I remember. It's just soft, cheesey, pop drivel. In my memory they were more hard rock. But there's nothing hard about this.

I like silly. This is too silly

So good. So raw yet perfect sound. Also, I guess it should have been obvious, but I never realized how much Siouxsie is a clear influence on PJ Harvey

To say I'm blown away is a massive understatement. It's incredible in its own right. But the influences on later music are non stop. I can't believe I wasn't aware. I'm hearing Pink Floyd, Modest Mouse, Bowie (of course), and on and on.
I had heard of these guys but never listened before. I expected something more interesting.

Love it

Growing up in the 70s I was obviously familiar with the title track. And I thought "Iron Butterfly" was the most badass band name I ever heard. When this popped up I was excited for the classic title track and learning what else the album had to offer. Then I listened. The first side is so bad that it might as well be a parody. And as an adult, it turns out that the title track is just as stupid. Came in expecting to give 4 or 5. Now I can't even justify a 3.

So much fun
It's decent. Overall good sound for early '80s. I was pretty thrilled when the horns kicked right in, but honestly the horns are pretty simplistic throughout the whole album. I bet these good were a blast to see live in their early days.
Weird one to score for me. My father is an over-the-top Boomer music fan. He has thousands and thousands of vinyl records, multiple jukeboxes, and speakers throughout the house I grew up in. Weekend mornings as a kid I wasn't allowed to sleep late. And "late" was 7am. So every Saturday and Sunday by 6 or 7am the turntable or jukebox was BLARING the Everly Brothers, Roy Orbison, Beach Boys. etc. I fucking hated it.
But the Everly Brothers are ingrained in my memory. I listened to this and knew every note. It's not their fault that my father is a narcissistic psychopath.. They just made nice music.

When this came out I liked it, but always thought it was somewhat overwrought. Listening now I hear how powerful it is.

Do I think the Residents are interesting and cool? Yes. Do I want to listen to this again? No.
