Not bad. Some pretty great recording and mixing throughout but became numb to the album after awhile. 3/5

This music is art with a purpose. Such a well crafted piece of social commentary that sounded ahead of its time. 5/5

My god he just continues on and on the same, track after track. He has a nice voice but there is little variation. 2/5

Nice performances and americana vibes. Mostly original songs and good performance. The mouth harp was pretty annoying throughout, and some songs overstayed their welcome, but pretty great regardless. 4/5

There is something so tedious about post punk, but I think this album got me closer to understanding why I don't like the genre. Each song feels stagnant, like it's jogging in place. The music doesn't go anywhere, the vocals just kind of chant whatever, and after 3-4 mins the song ends and the process starts over again. There are a few bits that were fine, but I really did not enjoy this. 2/5

Aside from We Had it All and Honky Tonk Heroes, the rest of the songs were pretty tedious to listen to. Not horrible, but not great. 2.4/5 -> 2/5

Through its description I wanted to give this a higher rating, but the new age lean made some of the moments a bit cheesy. The high pitched synth, the bossa nova claves... It's just all a bit dated now. But still nice to put on when working. 3.3/5 -> 3/5

I'm sorry Kate, I really like a lot of Hounds of Love, but I found this album to be generally uninteresting with a really flat mix that did not emphasize any particular instrument/vocal. The resulting music just sounded compressed and very stagnant. Some good moments and I love her voice, but overall not impressed. 2.4/5 -> 2/5

I mean, it was a bit of a long, diddling compilation of live tracks from some Osaka/Tokyo tour dates. Half of the songs were just ok, and half were pretty good. Not enough to make 70+ mins standout as needing to go on this list. 2.4/5 -> 2/5

I had only heard of The National before this point. I was glad that they didn't sound like the Black Keys or Dirty Projectors, but none of the songs really excited me much. Very plain. 2.5/5 -> 3/5

Unfortunately, though King of the World is a pretty good closer, the rest of the album is pretty lackluster and uninteresting. Palatable l, but definitely doesn't need to be here. 2.4/5 -> 2/5

John composed and recorded this masterpiece in one take when he was 38 years old. I'm nearly 34, sitting on the toilet, and typing a review to his album that nobody will read. Really humbles a guy. 5/5

In the realm of albums with a country-lean this is a bit more pleasant than others. Pretty simple and palatable but some good and meh moments throughout. 3/5
Any moment that Jah participates in singing this goes down towards a 1 for me. The other sounds and artists he brings in are fine, but not his culture and kind of boring. There are a few musical bits that salvage this project, but overall not impressed. 1.5/5 -> 2/5

I was hoping this was going to be more punk, but ended up being post-punk. I liked her voice and vibrado alright, but really did not like the meandering songs and garage production. Not for me. 2.3/5 -> 2/5

"You can gild a literal piece of shit in gold leaf but it will still be a piece of shit".
The same goes for Hms Fable: hiding derivative , generic, badly sang UK alt rock under layers of ochestral strings and horns. The best song at the very end, Danielle, could not redeem the experience of wishing the album would end for 45 mins. 1.2/5 -> 1/5

For me this was a case of amazing bookends, but "good" rest of the album. I thought The Word Girl was a very interesting song and really enjoyed it, and thought Hypnotize was the catchiest song on the album.
While this group pales in comparison to Michael, Prince, etc, the production was pretty impressive. I could only imagine "Powerline" performing these hits. 3.4/5 -> 3/5
Rated 8/10
This album is certainly very good, but moreso at the beginning and end. The middle is a bit less interesting to me. But overall it's nice while it's on. 3.5/5 -> 4/5

This book really missed the mark with the year 2000. It's like these reviewers were trying to be profound and pick out the timeless albums that would impact the future, but this to my ears is a totally derivative of a UK house album from the 90s. A good moment or two but really not worth it in a 70 min album. 1.7/5 -> 2/5

A pretty good album. Some funny bits, just a bit long for the content. 3/5
