Fuckin' A, that's some good shit. Just as relevant as ever, too. If only conservative twats don't use it for their own shit.

Isabelle’s gonna be psyched as fuck for this lmao. Anyway I’ve decided to make this a diary type thing as well as a review. So what did I do today? I had lunch at Potbelly, the second best restaurant I have easy access to. I had a pretty good day all things considered. The quality of this diary will one day increase once I know what to say. For now let's talk about this album I listened to today. All you really need to know is it's a 10. That's for sure. I don't know the best song, or anything like that, just that it's a 10/10. There isn't a single moment in this album that isn't a fiery scream of absolute devastated rage (ha) at everything awful in the world. Every song feels like a separate doctrine against every billionaire, landlord, and oppressor ever. If you haven't listened to it please do, it's one of the best albums I have ever heard.

Fuck you I won't review what you tell me!

"Killing in the Name of" is beloved for a reason - the way it builds slowly and then explodes? Fantastic song. The rest of these songs mostly all sound and feel like that, but that's ok with me.

Album is recommended for those days when you've made the mistake of reading the news, or when those helicopters that are always circling over your city start to get on your fucking nerves.

After a dour run of albums last week, to quote the kids - "we're so back".

No notes needed. One of those albums where you just hit play, raise your fist in defiance and start bopping your head.

Rated 10/10

Fuck yeah.

No one else sounds like this and it's a great balance of riffage, message, experimentation and power.

Rated 8/10

RATM goes so fuckin' hard. Killin' in the Name is one of the greatest songs of the decade, it does carry the album a bit. But I enjoy the album all the way, it makes me feel anti-establishment despite my undeniable role as a cog in the machine.

Rated 8/10

I haven’t listened to Rage Against the Machine in decades, but as soon as I saw this album generated, I immediately had Killing in the Name stuck in my head.

I don’t think there’s ever been a better time for a new Rage Against the Machine album. We need more of this angry, revolutionary energy today.

Rated 10/10

This album holds up insanely well even to this day! Incredible production, great riffs, crushing lyrical content and just perfect overall. Without this album we wouldn't have nu metal and pretty much a lot of the politically inclined music you hear nowadays. This was groundbreaking when it came out and it's still so so relevant in this completely fucked up world. Anything under 5 stars for this is just wrong.

Rated 6/10

It is very hard not to think of "Get up those stairs and tidy your room" as what prompts the "Fuck you etc" refrain in Killing In The Name. But also nice to remember it getting to Christmas number one at the expense of yet another X Factor contestant.

Rated 10/10

They were telling us what all honest people now know and rocking as hard as anyone has ever rocked while doing it. Tom Morello’s guitar work is at its creative peak. I also forgot that Maynard James Keenan is on “Know Your Enemy”. Could this possibly be his only appearance on this list? Would still be a crime, but better than nothing I guess.

Rated 4/10

This band is not reaaally my thing, being a rap-metal(?) fusion, but they kinda remind me of System of a Down, mainly because of the lyrics, so I actually don't hate them that much. Even though their sound is in reality more like the Beastie Boys. But they don't use any slurs! So this is one of those rare cases where I like the band, it's just not a genre I like (i.e. very loud). I only listen to Slow Melodic Complaints Against the Machine, thanks.

Highlights: 'Killing in the Name' (gets stuck in my head a lot), the part MJK sings on 'Know Your Enemy' (Machine Jun Kelly? is that anything? haha no, but seriously, I really hope Tool or APC are on this list)

Lowlights: 'Settle for Nothing' (extra screamy), 'Fistful of Steel' (extra noisy)

More logic problems: "If ignorance is bliss / Then knock the smile off my face!"

Rated 10/10

I like how Zack does his best imitation of a TiE fighter from Star Wars in Township Rebellion. Understanding the political values of this album and Rage as a whole is an important media literacy test that many people fail completely. This is THE rap metal album. Often imitated, never duplicated.

Rated 8/10

Well, I can’t quite put my finger on it, but I think the lead singer might be upset about something.
What do you think Zack de la Rocha does to unwind? Yoga, gardening, sudoku?
May I suggest that Rage Against the Machine and Florence and the Machine switch lead singers for an album - I would certainly buy that shit and I bet you would, too.
This is a pretty f’ing solid debut effort but their downfall is that, by virtue of their incredibly unique sound, they have horribly pigeonholed themselves - you immediately know a Rage song because they are so iconic … and they never shake off that style so it all starts to sound like the same magic trick. It’s a great trick, but you’ve heard it so many times before that it wears thin before too long.

Rated 10/10

Music is an exceptional blend of funk, rap, rock and punk that has a unique fingerprint.

I don't care for their politics at all but that has very little to do with how I appreciate the music (see guys, it's easy!)

Rated 2/10

The Good: We are warned that the band is pissed off!
The Bad: Why they are pissed off, I don’t understand…
The Ugly: Using the image of the poor monk…

I never dug deep into RAtM, maybe I should have sooner, so I could have told anyone who I know that is a fan, that they are being duped.
Tom Morello does what he does, and it is even commendable.
Mr singer man, on the other hand, is a douche.

Anyone who likes to defend the Zapatistas can go and eat shit.
I have little to no respect for violent protest, however, it seems that this is perfectly okay for this band…

To think that I have read a gazillion boo’s regarding Dire Straits and their misogynist song Money for Nothing, yet nobody offers a word here?
Well, though the music at times ain’t bad at all…

Here’s a 1* as a massive FU to all you numbnuts applauding this shit.

Well that livened up an early start on a Monday!

Epic album. Demands to be cranked up as loud as you can.

I almost consider this to be hard funk at times as it’s got such a groove.

And has the best Christmas Number 1 of all time on it!

Can’t fault this. 5
