Oh i miss this version of Kanye. His production was great and worked perfectly with his delivery. No where is this clearer than on ‘Power’ which matches Kanye’s flow with an infectious choral arrangement punctuated with a throbbing bassline and percussion, including some great handclapping.
All of the lights brings real star power, which is no finer than the unmistakable piano of John Legend in the interlude version.

I have to admit this album is not as strong as i remember it, although i have always preferred his first two albums. That is not to say there are not great tracks here such as the Devil in a New Dress and Runaway.
Lost in the World makes great use of Bon Iver’s ‘Woods’ and adds to this by including the man himself, creating a layered soundscape for Kanye to deliver over.

I really do try to separate art from artist when listening to these albums (although once again, fuck you, Brian Warner). Kanye, though? That's a tough one...

...thankfully for the bit of my brain that wants to instantly give the dickhead a 1/5, there's plenty for me to dislike. For a start, I don't much like his voice or flow while rapping and I genuinely cannot stand his singing voice. He's comically poor when trying to be melodic.

Some of the tracks also do not even slightly justify their running time. The multiple circa 6 minute tracks rarely had enough ideas to support that. I hate skits and despite not generally disliking Chris Rock, I despised his nonsense on this album.

I didn't mind a few of the tracks, I strangely liked Nicki Minaj's contribution (despite her also being an extremely problematic individual) and I like a fair few of the actual beats but all in all, I don't understand why this gets such praise. Even pre-Nazification Kanye wouldn't be something I'd want to listen to judging by this record.

1/5 for the human being
2/5 for the record (and that's generous)

As much as I wanted to not like this album, I can’t deny that the production is incredible. Some incredible verses even if many of the people involved are absolute garbage. Reluctantly I must say that I really enjoyed this and I do, unfortunately, get the hype.

Rated 10/10

It was very, very well put together - lyrics were a bit much in places, but I feel that was the point. I was conflicted as he's a bit of a strange chap in recent years, but rating this album it is a 5.

The 21st Century Schizoid Man sample in Power isn’t that good; you just like the original song

Rated 10/10

So well produced. Everything sounds amazing.

Rated 2/10

This one is easy: I will not waste any attention on Kanye West.
Next, please.

Rated 6/10

Lots of talk about bitches, pussy, women and other derogatory terms.
The beat does make my head wobble a bit though

Rated 4/10

*A few great songs with otherwise bloated content, much of which is clearly for shock value from an all time terrible human

Rated 10/10

Man if only he hadn't lost his mind after this one

Rated 10/10

We had it good back when Kanye was on his meds.

Rated 6/10

Production on this is excellent, really influential and genre defining. Production alone does not really make for a great album however. There were definitely great songs on here, I really liked Lost in the World, Gorgeous and Power on here. The album gets into a bit of a lull around halfway and doesn't really get out of that. The lyrics were a bit hit or miss too, sometimes they're really powerful and other times they suck.

Rated 8/10

I never really considered KW, probably because I don’t like his public persona, but I thought this album was very good and enjoyed listening to it. Lots of nice collaborations, too. (SMH for the blurred George Condo cover art)

Rated 8/10

Something a little more mainstream, great album, has a few bangers, fav is „Runaway“. It’s basic yet very good

Rated 1/10

Let's say, hypothetically, that I can't speak a single word in English. And I hear this album. Judging this album by the music and only the music, I'd give it a 3. Now, as a person who *does* speak English: the lyrics take this album down to a 1. On top of that, knowing that Kanye West is a literal fucking nazi? I'd give it a 0 if I could.

Rated 4/10

Fuck. The music and the production is incredible. Second to none. When All of the lights come on i get chills. MOST of the people he got to work on this were incredibly smart and added so much to this. Rihanna, Bon Iver. fucking nicki minaj. Don't even get me started. The rapping is absolutely dog shit. the lyrics are hard to listen to even without the foresight of 2026. The humor is completely gone, but he still delivers it like he is funny. but the worst is I hate this. I hate what has become of this legacy. I hate how much of a complete ass he is here and I hate how he became so so much worse. I just listen to this and think what his mother would have thought of all of this.

It just makes me mad I can't listen to this anymore, and I am mad that this list made me listen to it again.

Guy is a total tool and I refuse to listen to his music.
