649/1089 - And people say Steely Dan was a bad band to work with. It's fine overall; some alright country rock.

Rated 6/10

Way too long. I was surprised to enjoy some of the songs, I wasn’t optimistic based on the description. It’s funny, for an album marked as blues rock it was mostly folk/americana. And I was partially right to be wary going in, the blues rock songs on here stink, they’re dullsville. But the folkier and jammier stuff was pretty ok.

Rated 8/10

I love CSNY, and CSN, and just Y, but I don’t know if S needed multiple albums on a list of 1001 albums to hear before you die. That said, other than being a bit too long, this album is actually pretty good and I enjoyed it more than the last Stephen Still album that was generated.

Rated 8/10

Great album with lots of good stuff, a few parts that could be cut or that just kind of wander along, and some parts that feel more country inspired than others. Overall great songs.

Standard early-70s country/blues rock. I appreciated the fact that I've managed to avoid being overexposed to this record over the past 50 plus years like I have with some other CSNY-adjacent stuff. The playing is good, though a couple tracks approached a little too closely to soft rock for my taste, and I listened to the bluesy tracks thinking "why listen to this when we have people like Muddy Waters to listen to." But still, it was largely a workable album, for folks who are in the mood for songs like this.

"Fallen Eagle" was the most interesting song for me on here, since I was following the lyrics from the perspective of being here in the future where eagles have had federal protection for quite a while and therefore are pretty numerous in places like here near the Potomac River (in Manassas, even), and in the Pacific Northwest and Alaska. But maybe it's a metaphor? Or maybe it’s a warning.

OH THANK GOD! I've gone two whole days without a classic rock album! 978 albums into this project, would I set a record with THREE consecutive days? Thank whatever god you worship - I will not.

Rated 8/10

Nice, long, but nice.

Rated 8/10

A sampler of early 70s rock, bit done well

Rated 4/10

Not for me, I don't like the classic rock sounds, and I really don't like the country and blues stuff.

Rated 4/10

Mellow folk-rock, with a country twinge. Not much imagination. The musicians are tight but his voice seems to have very little range. All the songs are similar, which makes the double-album length very unnecessary. It probably could have been a three star album if I wasn’t ready for it to be over half way through it.

Rated 6/10

Adequate stuff. 70 minutes was not necessary.

Don’t know why I never listened to Stills more. This is a really solid country-rock album from the heart of that era. Stills + Byrds vet Hillman rip it up here - the best stuff is the close harmonies and gentle pretty country stuff, but they veer into wah-wah blues rock and some slide-guitar ABBesque stuff too and it’s actually pretty good. Then there’s some acoustic folky stuff that’s a bit more boring. Nothing groundbreaking, but I wanted to add almost every song to my country-rock playlist, just to fill it out. Extremely dad core easy going stuff.

More blues rock. COUNTRY blues rock, at that. Not that it's actually bad, I'm just burnt out on the genre. Everyone complains about britpop being overrepresented on the list, for me its blues rock.

It's very hit and miss for me. Some great folk rock tunes like Both of Us (Bound to Lose), It Doesn't Matter, and Colorado, but then there's country stuff like Hide It So Deep, Don't Look At My Shadow, or Jesus Gave Love Away For Free or blues tracks like Jet Set (Sigh) that just do nothing do it for me. Really its the country and blues tracks that let this album down for me, the folk rock stuff is great. Once in a while you'll get a song thats a bit too close to Grateful Dead like How Far, but still.

Overall, good album, I'm just burning out on blues rock type stuff.

Urgh, a double album by the most annoying member of The Byrds? Oh wait, its by his other band Manassas but he's such a fragile ego it gets billed as him only....

Too long, too rambling, too indulgent, too little drugs (on my side) and, simultaneously, too many drugs (on their side)

Rated 6/10

Manassas was a pretty good album. Considering a lot of the people that Stephen Stills worked with, it came as no surprise to hear this album have a country rock sort of sound like the works of those other artists. The songs themselves were pretty all over the place when it came to how good they were seeing as the album was very long. The good songs did overpower the bad ones and the bad ones weren't really that bad, just not really up to snuff with the other songs. I don't really think i can say all too much else about this album so I'll just say it's a pretty good album that's well worth a listen.
Best Song: Right Now
Worst Song: Fallen Eagle

Rated 8/10

I like how each side has its own theme. Side 1 is probably my favorite just because it's so rocking. Side 2 being country is less my thing but still enjoyable. I dig how eclectic side 3 is. Side 4 is a strong return to side 1's style. The Treasure is epic.

Rated 6/10

This is quite good, nothing spectacular but consistently listenable.

Curioso que este album de Stephen Stills si esté en Spotify no como otros del conjunto Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young. Suena muy bien desde el principio. Qué discazo!!! "Song of love", "Colorado", "It doesn't matter" o "Move around".
