Rated 8/10

Maybe I've listened to this and its derivates over the past 20 years too much, but it feels a bit boring to me. Still a good album with some punchy songs and great bangers on there. One of the best 2000's rock albums.

Rated 10/10

I have had such a terrible week or so of albums, so thank god for the few rays of sunshine I have gotten. This album is awesome. It's so fun, and bouncy, and unique - I love it. Although I think they've done some solid work since this released, I don't think they've ever again quite reached these heights.

Rated 6/10

I really did not rate this. Some of the last few songs were interesting, but...wow I did not feel like it was a good use of my ears. Tight band, but... not for me, samey.

I know every single word, every note, and every ad-lib - but still loved listening again. Also one of my daughter's favourite albums, so we must have raised her right!

Rated 8/10

Opens up with an ass kicking! Nice blend of post-punk, garage, and Britpop going on here. Really seems to take the best from each and just rocks out with it.

Rated 10/10

Die ganze Zeit zwischen 4 und 5 Sternen gehadert, aber als dann "When the Sun goes down" war einfach klar, für mich ein 5er Album. Interessante Stimme, geile Gitarrenriffs und ein Album meiner Jugend.

Rated 8/10

Back in the day this wasn't really my particular scene, but of course I was aware of the band. I'm impressed that the whole album is genuinely quality, with loads of great songs, tons of energy and loads of great hooks.

It's still not something I'd naturally flock to but I have to admit it's really good. It's a really accomplished debut.

Senior year of college, my job involved a significant commute 2-3 days a week. This was the soundtrack to that commute (at least for the second half of that school year, since the album came out in January at the start of my final college semester). Didn’t have to listen today, because I know it pretty well. Dancefloor and Fake Tales are indie classics.

Rated 10/10

Hands down the second best Strokes album.

Rated 10/10

Formative album for me. It still holds up nearly 20 years later too. Just bangers from start to finish.

Rated 10/10

Hits just as hard as it did in 2006. This was life changing for me. They’re weird now but this was incredible.

Rated 6/10

Feels a bit like a mash-up of a few bands and styles that were popular at the time. Not really my cup of tea.

Rated 4/10

Yeah, nah.

Rated 6/10

Am is better....but ok

Rated 6/10

Not a bad album, a lot of it sounded the same to me though. 3/5

Rated 8/10

I had never given this band a chance, which is a shame, because I quite liked this.

Rated 4/10

Like if QOTSA were annoying instead if cool.

Rated 4/10

Replaceable mid-aughts pop rock.

Rated 10/10

The bassline on "A Certain Romance" floored me in 2006, and still does in 2024...

Oh, in five years time, will it be "Who the fuck's Arctic Monkeys?".
