Noooo not another mopey cohen album. This one even includes shitty flute playing.
I really really don't like his music, and hearing the 20th album of his on this list will not change my opinion. 1*

Rated 4/10

Should probably treat this one like a podcast. But it's tough to find the time when I could also listen to Anna Faris choosing whether to have bread or poppadoms.

Rated 4/10

I like where Leonard is coming from and he can turn a phrase but this album was one song over and over.

Rated 8/10

I don’t think I’ve listened to this Leonard Cohen album much if it all. But it’s very good just like basically everything he’s done

Rated 6/10

é o esperado dele, eu acho. bem soturno, violãozinho, meio melancólico

não eh ruim não. nao eh minha pira, mas não me incomodou nem um pouco. é bacaninha

Rated 8/10

Great voice, instrumentation and songs in general.

The Good: (spoiler alert) THE LAST LC album I have to listen to on this list!!!
The Bad: The fact that I had to listen to THREE of his albums…
The Ugly: Mr Dimery’s face all smashed in by my fist—this is my imagination, I don’t condone violence… though at times this journey just pulls the worse out of you…

If you own a dusty coffee shop, where 2-3 regulars show up only on rainy Wednesday afternoons, well then this is your album!

We all know that LC is a poet… yet, as many have said before me, and I will gladly repeat, he has NO BUSINESS performing his own songs.

The only positive thing about this album is that it is now done and I will never have to listen to LC again, unless it is accidentally thrust onto me in a movie or some empty dusty coffee shop on a rainy Wednesday afternoon...

Jedinica iz principa. // Bila bi jedinica jer postanem suicidalna čim moram slušati cohena.

Nice performances and americana vibes. Mostly original songs and good performance. The mouth harp was pretty annoying throughout, and some songs overstayed their welcome, but pretty great regardless. 4/5

OHHHH FUCK YOU. Ehh it’s not that tragic that I got this album. I just don’t love this album like I do his other work. Love and Hate is to this day one of the best albums ever made in my opinion, and his debut is pretty incredible too. Both are leagues ahead of this. Bird on the Wire: not only overrated, but Johnny Cash did it better anyway. The real highs of this album lie in “Story of Isaac,” “The Partisan,” “Seems So Long…,” and “The Butcher,” but even then it’s too unremarkable to stick like it wants to.

I'm delighted to see a Cohen album pop up today, even though it's only been ten albums since I last saw him. His other album was my most recent five-star record, and I need to wash the U2 out of my ears, so I have high expectations. It is very much the same Cohen I had previously, which I am glad for. Lyrics are just as strong as the other album("Songs of Love and Hate"), and the haunting guitar and vocals are still here. However, it does feel slightly more embellished than SoLH. It has noticeable string parts and even backing vocals on one track. However, it's still Cohen, and Cohen is great. So this is a great album from the 60s folk era. It succeeded in getting the awful sounds of U2's "Achtung Baby" out of my ears, and for that it deserves an extra star. It already gets good marks for being Leonard Cohen, with everything that entails sonically and lyrically. So it's a five star record.

Ah that Leonard Cohen... never met a note he could hit.

I think this album would be great if basically anyone else had been singing it. I have to give it some credit because the songs are written quite well and the instrumentation is good but I cannot get over the monotone "wa-wa"-ing from Len.

First Leonard Cohen album I semi-enjoyed

Rated 8/10

Quite, brooding, sombre songs that get better everytime you hear them.

Rated 6/10

I know and like some of his songs but I don't think I knew any of these. That twangy sound on a few songs I had to look up, a Jew's Harp apparently, sounds really out of place because of only knowing it as like a cartoon joke sound or something making fun of hillbillies.

Rated 4/10

The man writes beautiful songs, i just wish he’d give them to Someone else to perform

Rated 4/10

Leonard Cohen is so depressing. That doesn't mean an album can't be good obviously, but there's a time and a place for this record. And that's not when you are in a great mood, because this would instantly reverse it.

He can't sing. At all. And, you know, there are some artists who objectively have terrible singing voices and despite all the odds I still enjoy them (see both Johns from They Might Be Giants, and John Darnielle from The Mountain Goats... so weirdly, mostly people called John). But not Leonard.

He is, I will admit, a great storyteller. And that's a plus point. But it's all so... dour.

This is not for me. I don't have a high point, because it essentially all sounded the same to me, and it made me sad.

I have tried to listen to this for about a week, and it's so incredibly boring.

Neil, Joni then Leonard? I get to listen to all these Canadian classics for the first time thanks to this generator!

His poetry works well with the lyrical cadence, and it’s just him and his guitar so I really have to try harder to focus on the lyrics. I like how he doesn’t put too much flourish; it’s just him and you in this audial room. (3.5-4)
