Rated 8/10

This album is really good. I like how it feels like an actual story. It was able to keep me interested throughout the whole hour and 16 minutes. I'm not the biggest fan of rap, but this is enjoyable.

Rated 8/10

It’s real separating the art from the artist territory. Because Kanye West is a terrible person, but this is a great album.

Rated 10/10

My third and, I think, my final Kanye album and for me this is the best of the three. The other two I gave 4 stars cause there was a few songs I wasn’t fussed on but I enjoyed this right the way through. It’s a shame he’s a few peas short of a pod these days cause this version of Kanye is brilliant.

Top Track - All Falls Down

Rated 4/10

Too many skits on here, and it didn't need to be an hour and a quarter. I like this about the same as Yeezus, which is to say there were moments I liked a lot, but the whole was just too much for me.

Rated 10/10

This is a debut album???
Genius.

Rated 10/10

Exclude the people review bombing this album and this would easily be the highest ranking album of 2004 on this site.

Pity the people that can't separate the art from the man.
Suggest clicking "did not listen" and save the rest of us the holier than thou BS.

Bernie Mac intro kills me every time.

I remember the MTV days and seeing Jesus Walks for the first time. Blew me away. Took a mental note of the artist and song so I could torrent it later.

This could easily be considered Kanye's best album. So many bangers on this one. Production value is through the roof. Runs a little long though.

4.5/5. Raising to a 5.

Rated 6/10

The Good: Saving money, by dropping out…
The Bad: Maybe some more higher education could’ve helped the man?
The Ugly: Stupidity of people not recognizing serious mental health issues…

Here comes my skipping record: I don’t like rap.

However, this album was actually “easy listening” for me.
It was musical, it has structure, just easy listening.

Now, if they could stop with the damn sketches, maybe I can start taking certain hip hop albums more serious.

3*

Rated 2/10

I'm not going to downvote this JUST because Kanye is a piece of shit (though it's hard to not let it influence my listen). Everybody already knows that. I'm downvoting this because it's just musical gibberish. The production has nothing unique or special that draws me in. The lyrics mostly sound like unrelated nonsense crammed together to force a rhyme. No idea why this guy was ever considered a "genius".

Rated 8/10

Although its very bloated and you do really have to separate the art from the artist here, I enjoyed quite a lot.

Rated 8/10

Been a while since I listened to this in full - Kanye used to be genuinely funny and brilliant and such a tonic to the Bling Era of rap. Such a shame listening knowing how it’s all ended.

Rated 6/10

I have a hard time separating the Kanye of today from the Kanye of the past. While I have enjoyed some of his music, I have very much felt he was always on the overrated ride. 3.5/5

Rated 6/10

Didn't really enjoy this, but I don't think it's bad at all

Rated 1/10

If only he had grown from this instead of becoming a Nazi.

Rated 6/10

First half was OK.

Second half was pretty great, had some very well made and powerful songs.

Rated 6/10

5 stars for the music
1 star for the man

Rated 10/10

kids sing, kiids siiing. killer.

set this party on fry. sekurrr. remember when he was a class conscious underdog making poignant statements about systemic racism and the empty promise of material wealth?

touching song about wanting to transcend your circumstances. militant song about fighting the good fight. always funky, consistently balanced with humor. even if you can see his god complex poking through, at least it’s the good side of christianity he’s conflating himself with.

yeah yeah jay z, hand the mic back to the exciting new young upstart.

get em high. in the pocket now. not one stutter yet, what a great fuckin album.

poor ray ray’s broke ass.

“damn baby i can’t do it that fast but i know someone who can” haha. enta twista. party certainly on fry by this point.

oh shit i forgot about this ludicrous song. sick guitar sample too. “say my name like candyman and i’ll come fix you up like the handyman.” makes it sound easy.

one killer beat after another. and how FUN is this record. propulsive and swaggering. a couple whoos comin on cuz.

i’ll be the smartest dead guy lol.

excellent from start to finish. the skits always hit and even have a certain rhythm.

family business is so earnest and innocent.

5 w/o a doubt

Rated 6/10

I dislike this man. I don't particularly care for his work. Still, this is a good album. Maybe the best from him.
