Coat of Many Colors

I like Dolly Parton. Her spirit and the way she lived her life with positivity and creativity set a great example to everyone. I love Islands in the Stream and Jolene. This country album is fine.

Great songwriting, great singing, very well done classic country album. Easy to listen to and enjoy.

I got this album the day after Dolly died. This isn’t my taste in music, but she always seemed like a very good and likable person. Her book program for kids is fantastic.

RIP to an amazing woman with so much heart and so much talent. As a classic country music lover I was already a fan of hers. I can’t recall the moment I became a fan, but I guess over the years I was simply drawn to her sweet as honey voice and heartfelt songwriting, and this album is a great example of that. My Blue Tears is among my favorite songs of all time. Thank you for everything, Dolly. I will always love you.

Really great. My first time listening to Dolly Parton in a serious way, it’s crazy how much of this album exists in country music today

A nice voice, some good songs but still a genre that get long quite quickly. It's better than the Trio album nevertheless.

To judge the album fairly, I will say in terms of country music, this is a laser-focused album. Most of the fat is cut off until you've got just straight up good vocals and fun songs.

Ugh... No disrespect for the dead. I know Dolly was a wonderful person who did great things, but I just don't care for this type of music at all.

I have no complaints about this one. If we talked and you insisted this was one of your favorite records of all time, I’d believe you. I don’t personally care that much, but if you’re into it; I love that for you.

All songs are good. The album doesn't overstay its welcome. It's not the most interesting album of all time, but it's good.

i must confess that jolene is the only dolly album i've listened to top to bottom before this(unless you count trio, i really hope that is on this list) . i listened to coat of many colors a few times through during my shift today and each time was a delight

i was shocked by how much absolute sauce the rhythm section is putting on this. 90% of the time i dig those melodic leading basslines though i feel like the bass in the full band moments can get distracting & lose balance. there’s a bit of delightful psychedelic flavor in the rockier tunes that i wasn’t expecting. here i am feels like it could’ve been a janis song. she has the range! & for a studio backing band these guys really know how to play with dolly’s voice and lyricism

i love songs that tell stories and that’s what dolly weaves these narratives so well into her songwriting - title track & traveling man
