turns out i wasnt missing out on much. millennial machismo

mostly nice coding music, but it gets absolutely unbearable the moment a human being starts singing in a human language

imagine an album recorded by one of those summer camps for artsy high schoolers but the campers are actually all homeschooled by ren faire fanatics

it was a revelation when this dropped in (maybe just after?) college. he stepped up big with scope and managed to deliver. was an immediate AOTY contender for me. 4.5

it's kind of kickass, but only for so long. after 30 minutes it all jumbles into a kitschy blob akin to KISS. yuck. sides A and B are both 4 star EPs, that together make a 3. 3.5

they try so hard to be grand and flush but they just dont have the songwriting or arranging chops for it. actively grating for a lot of the 70 minute runtime. generous 2

cash sounds great. the live audience actively takes away from the experience. good thing future live recordings learned restraint.

gotta respect the scope. there are certainly good parts, but they are almost always followed up by inexplicable choices. they try so hard to sound like bowie; it's a shame that they sound the best when they sound nothing like bowie.
