My wife's favourite era of country music, so I am more familiar with this genre than I'd like to be. This is like all the other 90's female country hits. Sounds a lot like The Judd's, Kathy Mattea, Lee Ann Womack, Trisha Yearwood...the list goes on. This is the type of country they love to play at wedding receptions and on the radio. It is country steeped in pop. It isn't really my favourite genre of music, but I do understand why it is in the post-list. I hate country music, but it was horribly underrepresented on the original list. Robert Dimery was too busy listing off every Britpop and Shoegaze band to bother including anything that meant anything on this side of the pond.

Favorite songs: I Feel Lucky, He Thinks He'll Keep Her, Passionate Kisses

Least favorite songs: Rhythm of the Blues, Not Too Much to Ask

Very similar to the noise rock of Einsturzende Neubauten. Chaotic and horrible, but there's something about the insanity that draws you in. Plus these guys frontman, Yamantaka Eye, was quite the lad. This guy once drove a working backhoe on stage during a show with one of his prior bands, Hanatarash. Another time he strapped a running chainsaw to his back and spun it around, cutting his own leg pretty badly. One of the strangest stories is one where Eye brought a dead cat out on stage and skinned it. Insanity that matches their music perfectly.

I mean, don't get me wrong, this "music" is truly awful, but the stories and spectacle have to be weighed into the score in this case because it played such a huge role in their overall persona. As I said with Einsturzende Neubauten, I've heard worse, and would probably find a way to add this to the 1001 list and remove some generic Britpop record. At least this band has an interesting story.

Solid modern funk. Suffers a bit by being too long of a runtime, but otherwise solid. The bass player is insanely talented.

Really not my kinda music. Trumpets especially have a tendency to give me a headache. This all sounds the same to me. Nothing wrong with it, just way out of my wheelhouse. I like my jazz to have more than just trumpets in it.

Favorite songs: It Never Entered My Mind

Least favorite songs: I can't really say.....it all sounded the same....

Pretty solid blues rock. Sounds like if Tom Waits got really into blues rock that sounded like a cross between The Animals and The Doors, and also happened to be Dutch.

Probably the best Talking Heads album I've listened to, but it's still 80's new wave/math rock. For a live album, the production value on the album is solid!

Favorite songs: Slippery People, Take Me to the River, Life During Wartime, Once in a Lifetime, Burning Down the House, Thank You for Sending Me an Angel, Heaven, Girlfriend is Better

I'm so happy that The Hip are getting the attention they deserve on this list finally. These lyrics are steeped in Canadian culture and heritage. The story told in the song Fifty-Mission Cap about the hockey player Bill Barilko....the mention of Jacques Cartier.....the story told in the song Wheat Kings of David Milgaard, and his wrongful conviction of murder....
