Like a movie for the ears. Willie Nelson's ability to tell a cohesive story with arguably one of the most popular storytelling genres is quite remarkable. Smooth country, smooth singing, solid all around.

Classic, hard rock. Love this record. Easily a new favorite of mine off of the timeless sound and energy.

This here is one EASILY a Top10 album of ALL time across ALL genres, man. Truly defined classic. Every song has Marvin Gaye's iconic and soulful voice as he touches on real world issues of then that (sadly) still hold up to this day. Magical record all around.

Pretty groovy project. Gotta say, I'm really liking the psych rock projects on this list.

Woah... this is very easily one of the best albums I've ever heard in my entire life. When I saw the cover and name of the band I had originally assumed it would be another rock record from the late 60's that would come and go for me but I was so wrong.
The way this self titled record of a band named after The United States Of America is targeting all the government corruption, problems with this system, and speaking on the general evils of the nation hits really hard. What's crazy is how well this album from 1968 stands up to this day.
Sonically, this project has some of the trippiest elements in it. Easily one of the best pioneering psychedelic albums out there for sure.

Solid rock album. Nothing too crazy but some really good performances where they appear for sure. A smooth listen with a good level of brevity.

I mean... it's The Beatles. Early Beatles at that. Solid work, stands well against the test of time and is a pretty great album overall. Not my favorite listening experience and some of the songs blend a bit too samey for me but there are some amazing tracks on this record that I love.

THIS! This came out in the 1960's and it still sounds fresh in a way. A truly timeless piece of work that ultimately laid the foundation for/popularized the rock sound that is still utilized even to this day. Loved the pub-style rock-centric vibe that this record gives off. It's brief, hard hitting, and solid all around. Truly a masterclass of the genre's origins.

Scott 4Scott Walker

Rated 8/10

I almost can't believe something this sonically cinematic released in 1969. Granted, I'm sure some remastering was done for streaming service needs but the overall sound of the project is really lush and layered. There are haunting moments fueled by Scott's voice and lyrical talents taking center stage. I really enjoyed this one.

What a hauntingly profound piece of work from the late great Leonard Cohen. His deep, iconic voice sent chills through me as he essentially gave a farewell to the audience as he spoke on life, peace, themes of love and happiness, along with the acceptance of the end. A glorious piece of work and it feels just like classic Leonard even being that late into his career. Gorgeous project.

Love a good jazz record. This one in particular is real smooth like most jazz but showed a whole other level of feels to it once I immersed deeper. Love the traditional jazz sound merged with cultural sounds as well. A really nice touch. I you like jazz you'll most definitely like this record

Please... NO MORE! Look, it was cool in the beginning but 109 minutes of general run time AND and extra 11 minutes of bonus tracks for a BLUEGRASS album is unfathomable. I do enjoy the style of the record, feels very country and southern especially in the beginning and I like how it is arranged as a jam session type vibe with dialogue and little organic moments but as it progresses everything starts to sound samey. ESPECIALLY during the majority of Disc 2. The firs few songs are pure instrumentals but they all have the same guitar progressions and style so there isn't much of an actual difference in the vibe at all. Great album for two hours of background music but definitely not the one I'd shoot for to get fully immersed into.

This album was... alright. I went into this album with no major expectations as I do with all of my listens but I have to admit, something about the cover felt really enticing and knowing that this album's genre has a psychedelic rock tag on it—one of my favorite subgenres of rock—I was a bit more intrigued.
The album is good but I don't really see myself returning to it all that much if ever. The vibe is cool but it doesn't hold much notability past a few moments and most of the tracks were forgotten once I moved onto the next one.
Not a bad record, just kind of "too okay" in my opinion.

I mean, how can you knock jazz? Loved this project. It's a solid, cohesive, and structured project from Miles Davis done very well by the greatest jazz musician of all time. This isn't close to Miles' best record but that testament goes to show how great this record really is.

Now, I'm not the biggest fan of country music as a whole but I decided to take this one as it was and immerse as I would any other album. I gotta say, this is a really nice record. There's a mellow warmth to the way Johnny Cash covers certain songs and his writing ability on the three tracks he did write for the project are really solid. Knowing that this is the last work he ever released also gives the project this odd kind of emotional weight to it as well. A lively country record indeed. Not bad, Johnny Cash. Not bad.

This caught me off guard in the best way. Love the darker tone on the subject matter with this record being juxtaposed by the softer instrumentation and lax singing. Really cool record. Really nice.

I am a HUGE hip-hop fan so seeing this pop up made me all the more excited. This album is one of the greatest of the genre as a whole and having listened to it again it just sparked so much more of my interests and most certainly became way more enjoyable as a whole. The subject matter and concept behind making your own path outside of the normal means of typical schooling and more-so the fixed path that many people follow has aged like fine wine. Amazing work and a highly recommended listen.

I really enjoyed this one. Had ambient elements fused with trip-hop elements pieced together with societal issues that were being faced at the time as well as keeping a solid style and form through and through. Really cool stuff.

Being ThereWilco

Rated 6/10

I've gotta get into Wilco more. This was a really solid and emotional project from the band and featured a really nice rock focused sound that really pairs well with the subject matter as the styles shift between hard and soft rock respectively. Quite a nice listen for sure, excited to see what else they've got to offer.
