Ominous record, which leverages a lot of orchestration and lush production to create an unique atmosphere. Way beyond their most well-known hit 'The Killing Moon', it is their most complete experience.

In my short experience with Jazz music, there have not been many albums that I have found to be as amusing throughout as this one. Great overall record.

While not the greatest collection of songs by Nick, it does manage to be one of his better concept albums for that reason. The two duets are the highlight of the album.

HejiraJoni Mitchell

Rated 6/10

Yet another beautiful Joni Mitchell album. This is not as essential as 'Blue' but has a less innocent tone which makes it feel equally unique and interesting.

It is a beautiful record of its own right, but it does not sound as flavorful or authentic as I would like. I would much prefer an album such as Chico Buarque's 'Construção' to be included.

★David Bowie

Rated 6/10

As a really big fan of 'The Next Day' by Bowie, which I believe is an even better collection of songs to welcome his death, I have to admit that this is the more meaningful album. It presents David Bowie at his most vulnerable, narrating his tale of acceptance towards death, and coming to terms with his mortality. It is not his best album by any means, but it is a necessary listen.

In the day we learn of Dolly Parton's passing, I was tasked with rating her masterpiece in one of those weird coincidences. Saying that this is the best country album of all time would sell short how personal and intimate Dolly sounds in the album, which has no major downsides and is a great listen throughout. Rest easy, Dolly!

Albeit a huge fan of Peter Gabriel contribution at Genesis to whom I attribute most of their success, I am unable to get the same enjoyment out of his solo career, and there is no greater example than this album.

Listening to this record is such a beautiful experience. While I marginally prefer 'Shore' as an outstanding piece of music, their debut holds its own as a very meaningful record as well.

It is able to maximize Bonnie Raitt's prowess as a singer by having a flawless production which really helps to send through the poignant message of the album.

This is one funky record. Such a nice groove throughout yet not as good as some of the earlier records. Glad to have listened to it with this list as I had put it off with it not being on Spotify at one point.

This is a very exuberant hip hop record in which Missy is able to mesh interesting beats, with a very flavorful delivery and specially interesting featurings. All in all, it is a robust and fun listen.

The artistry and musicianship of Minneapolis-born Prince is always understated in this sort of reviews. This is yet another proof of his talents, but the added runtime makes it feel less exceptional than '1999' or 'Purple Rain'.

Yet another uninspired britpop record on the list. Bewildered by the fact that as it seems, it is not their only album on this project. It does have some interesting moments throughout, but nothing that would seem essential.

The poster child of Bossa Nova, it is a super memorable listen that is able to maximize the talents of each of the four geniuses behind these tracks. While completely magnificient in all qualities, it is also a great entrypoint to the genre which feels rare being such acclaimed while having almost no barrier to entry.

It is a very groovy experience with very groovy bongo covers of popular songs. It does feel like a very sampleable record which makes it an even more interesting listen.
