Low‐LifeNew Order

Rated 2/10

The songs are catchy and all. I would probably rate it a lot higher if the lyrics weren't so goddamn awful. They're SO on the nose and some of the rhymes are so forced. It's so bad that I can't understand why anyone would actually enjoy it. The best song was the instrumental one because again, musically it's fine. But I'm so completely puzzled about why it's on this list, let alone the fact the band is actually popular. It goes to show how many people don't give a shit about lyrics and I find that really sad.

I've only just now realized that I've never listened to Alice Cooper before. Outside of what I just listened to on this album, I don't think I've heard a single song of theirs. Kinda surprising given how famous they are.

Anyways, this was decent. Some songs were pretty dang catchy. Nothing really stood out to me as absolutely amazing though.

I've heard a lot of great things about Janis Joplin over the years. I hope her solo stuff is a better introduction to her work because this was disappointing. Often times her voice is pretty hard to listen to. I get the impression that it's one of those voices you have to listen to over and over again and it will grow on you. However, there was nothing else here musically that was exciting enough to make me want to do that.

Tbh, I think the racist artwork is also souring my opinion on the music a bit. I try to be objective. But, when THAT'S the first thing I see, my immediate instinct is to hope I'll dislike it. I can't help it.

Typically not much of a fan of live albums. But this one is an exception. Johnny's charisma really shines through here. The series of live albums he did at prisons also just goes to show how cool of a person he was.

It was fine. Catchy in some parts, kinda weird in some others (but not necessarily in a bad way). It's certainly not as awful as some of the reviews here would make you think, but I'm also unsure why it's on the list. I listened to it whilst driving on a road trip, which I admit made most of it fall into the background for me. Perhaps on a second listen my rating would change. I definitely want to pay more attention to the lyrics on a relisten.

I've been aware of this album for a while now and have been meaning to listen to it but just never got around to it. It is absolutely gorgeous. Those harmonies alone, I mean come on. Doing research it looks like they only did one other album together after this. I wish they did more, this is a marvelous super group. There wasn't a single song I disliked. Man I have a soft spot for good country.

I only wish I could listen to this without crying. The last track especially broke my heart. RIP Dolly, the entire world misses you. To know her was to love her.

The cover art made me think I was about to listen to a metal album and I got excited. Then I read the Wikipedia description and was very disappointed.

That being said, I think this is my favorite electronic album I've heard on this list so far. It was good background music. But there's definitely nothing on here that I find worth returning to. It's gonna take something really special to make me like this genre.

GueroBeck

Rated 10/10

Beck is an artist I've heard about a lot before but never got around to actually listening to. If it wasn't for this project I probably never would. And that's why I'm glad I'm doing this because this is fucking incredible.

5/5

Every day I get a rap album on this list, I'm learning more and more that I've been missing out my entire life. Even the ones that I don't like as much still increase my appreciation of the genre.

This does not fall into that category though. This album is absolute perfection. One of the best albums I've heard. When I finish this list, this is definitely going to be a contender for my favorite album. I can't believe it took me this long to actually check it out. It's just incredible.

The fact that this is a debut album is absolutely fucking insane. I would've expected this to be the 4th or 5th album by very seasoned professionals in the industry. It gets a five for that alone, and also it's just a great album.

The opening track was the best part of this album. The rest of the album gets a little bit weirder, but not bad by any means. I think it'll grow on me. 3.5/5

It's decent for a live album... but it's a live album. A live album has to be REALLY good in order for me to put up with all the cheering. I think this one would better belong as a studio recording.

Queen IIQueen

Rated 6/10

Not the type of album I would have expected from Queen. It's interesting. None of the songs were bad, but why does the production sound like that? It's like the band was playing underwater. Really weird.

I enjoyed it, but it kind of fell into the background after the first two tracks. This one is gonna take a couple more listens before I form an actual opinion of it. I don't know if that says more about me or the music.

Rated 4/10

Is it bad? Not necessarily. Definitely not my usual thing, but it was fine background music while I was working. Don't think I would enjoy it as much if I was paying more attention. The length especially would have been on my nerves. 2.5/5
