First two songs: This is great, how have I never listened to this album?
Fourth song: Ok, these are similar.
Sixth song: How many songs are on this double album???

If you're in the mood for this, it is great. Not much variety at all.

Not sure how I missed this in high school, it would have been perfect for me then. I guess I had already started listening to the Bahooas and Dead Milkmen and this wasn't cool any more. Pretty fun, although there is some mention of conduct unbecoming of Gentlemen here.

Another listener - on this very site regarding this very album - said PF was better to hear albums than songs. After having this one on heavy rotation yesterday, I agree, dear reader!
Can't wait to hear it again in the proper room of sound.

I enjoyed it but didn't love it. I guess you don't get PJ Harvey without this - and a lot of others. I thought it had nice moments but never really had a hook that grabbed me after the opening of the first song.

Well that was uncomfortable.
I like weird things and I like jazz but this felt like assault, brother. I've been physically abused in the ear.
I gave it a fair shake, I can't think of any situation in which this would be in any way appropriate. Brenda says jazz makes her nervous. This would make Brenda have a seizure.

This was nice - reminds me of James in places, some good songwriting and quite listenable. I think I had heard the name but never listened to the album. I'll be back.
Walking through the fields of Manitoba with Stoic while I listened, that feels like one of those moments you take for granted while it happens but look back on wishing you could repeat it.

I started with Green, worked forward, then later came back to this one - easily my favorite.
My classmates roll their eyes when I tell this story, but I was class president and chose End of the World as our class song. Dana and Michelle outvoted me to choose ... So Hard to Say Goodbye by Boyz 2 Men.
A crushing defeat the most public of my many humiliations. I don't think I will ever recover.
Worse, I had to go pick up some bullshit trophy for most likely to have good hair or something from BJ's trophy shop that featured our "theme" - So Hard to Say Goodbye. I had ordered this via phone, being pre-internet days.
I'm sitting in the car after before pulling away and decide to look at the piece of shit and he had engraved "Goodby" instead of the actual fucking spelling. I went in to fly into an impotent rage (misplaced anger &tc) and the son of a bitch has the nerve to tell me that both spellings are correct, and the 18 year old me is not about to win this one.
Looks like our time is up.

If you're going to go for polygamy, go for it. A mere 27 wives?
If you make an album that makes someone so mad that they throw yer ma out a window you are not aiming for average. Quite liked it, even though the missus wasn't a fan of the lifestyle choices (wink).

I like the band a lot, somehow never listened to the whole album. I'm lazy I suppose. This will go into the rotation, Holmes.
I guess the fact the I like this but not yesterday's Don't Come Home 'A Drinking with Loving on Your Mind makes me an insufferable misogynist. Right?

If you told me I would be listening to a jazzy ragtimey song about a gang bang at 6:30 Wednesday morning I probably wouldn't have believed you, Cassandra.

Goofy but not unlikeable. Are these songs all about peen?

This probably tells you everything you need to know about me but I'll take this over 90% of Bowie's catalog every day.

Really wanted to love it. For Clint and Rick. Something about it just doesn't let me settle in. I'm even in Canada, eh?

I'll keep trying to connect I guess It was described to me as a religious experience, I think that may say a lot about my feelings toward religion.
