I didn't understand it but I enjoyed it. 4/5.

Brazilian soul is certainly an interesting choice of album for a Friday. It is a really good album, mixing American style rock, funk, and soul with traditional African-influenced Brazilian music styles. The songs are very upbeat and catchy while sounding like something entirely unique. Lyrics seem to be a weakness of the album, but my understanding of Portuguese is too limited to be sure of this. I do, however, really like this. I find it to be a really enjoyable album that you can just groove to without having to understand it. This might be the best album I've had all week(sorry Stereolab & Parliament fans, this is just better than both of those were- and they were pretty good albums themselves, though flawed).
This album is ranked #8 of 18 albums for 1976. Other 1976 albums rated by me:

This had a fun rhythm to it and I think it does a good job of representing The Samba and MPB genres. 7/10

I’d feel bad giving this three, but it’s not really a two

What a party! Listened to it all day long. I speak decent Spanish so I can understand some of the Portuguese lyrics and they are equally trippy. I love dancing around my house thinking about Hermes Trismagistus.

It was pleasant but nothing stood out on this first listen - I might go back though as it was a nice album and might click with me later on?

Brazilian funk? All right, I’m in. Got a little repetitive for me after a bit, but still a funkin’ good time.

na kraju mi je, nažalost, bilo prenaporno i bezveze...

Maybe the coolest thing I have heard, maybe ever? Why do we as humans listen to anything else? Mr. Jorge Ben Jor I was not aware of your game?! Catch me listening to SO much more Brazilian disco funk in the future this is so incredibly my jam. Never before has so much dance energy been infused into one album.
Makes me want to learn Portuguese immediately. Especially enjoyed Ponta de Lança Africano. and O Filósofo. and Meus Fihlos, Meu Tesouro. and Taj Mahal. and Africa Brasil (Zumbi).

I’d never heard this before but you know who clearly had? Rod Stewart. I get why you’d want to steal from this fun, groovy album though.

Ran to Wikipedia to see if Rod Stewart got sued for lifting the melody of ‘Taj Mahal’ for ‘Do You Think I’m Sexy?’. Answer - yes, he did!
Anyway - holy moly this was great! Sun has just come out today, I’m inside at work and trying desperately not to groove at my desk. Putting this into the regular rotation.
