I'll always prefer fusion Miles to this but I came around to it more.

I honestly don't know how to rate this. I just don't think I get it.

The best jazz album of all time? In the running for best album of all time, period? Incredible stuff; a powerhouse of talent here and not a note played that sounds like it shouldn't be there.

The people in my life who love Kind of Blue:
music theory professor, singer in a skate punk band, country musician, jam band guitarist, show tunes enthusiast, old drunk hippie, bassist in a hardcore band, my mom, record store owner, automotive writer, my spouse, etc etc etc
This record is a miracle. Miles had off the charts musical intelligence AND feel/intuition. Just an outrageously good bandleader -- he not only picked the best people to work with, he also knew how to fit those pieces together. Books and books and books have been written about this album, so there's not much else to say -- it's just one of the best musical recordings ever.

This has a reputation as perhaps the greatest jazz album ever made. And it might well be. It has everything you want in a jazz album; excellent saxophone solos, a nice groove, captivating tracks that don't feel anywhere near as long as they are. In fact, there's no real reason for me to write this review, because the album's reputation speaks for itself. Pretty much everyone with the slightest bit of jazz knowledge knows that this is an excellent album, so I don't need to say it. But for the first time listeners who have never even heard a jazz song before, let me restate it: This is a great album. In fact, it might just be the best jazz album ever made. And that's saying something, given how good jazz can be when the players are at the top of their game.

Is jazz my favorite genre? Not really. Do I pull this album out very often? No.
But it's beautiful and clearly the work of a master.

This is the second Miles I've listened to for this project. While I enjoyed the, at times, hypnotic improvisation on Bitches Brew, I found myself enjoying this one far more. This isn't as demanding of a listen as that album as this one offers a much calmer atmosphere with much more digestible compositions. Jazz is still a genre that I don't fully get yet, but this is definitely the most I've ever enjoyed a jazz album before and I can definitely see this growing on me with repeated listens.

Kind of Blue was the first jazz album I ever bought. I wanted to see if jazz could be my thing and well this is THE jazz album. The best one ever according to most people. I definitely didn’t fully get it at first. I thought it sounded nice. I often played it while I was going to sleep because it helped. Slowly I started to appreciate it more. Also the more jazz I listen to, the better Kind of Blue has become. Every note and inflection just seems perfect. I’ve also listened to it enough times that I know it front to back. I don’t know music theory or anything like that to be able to explain why it’s different or even necessarily innovative compared to other stuff of the time, but I can feel how perfect it is and it’s always great to revisit it

It’s jazz, it’s classy, it’s a bunch of the top players from history. A lot to like and not much I can complain about.

Kind of the first Jazz lp anyone gets into, more like. Then everyone moves on to discover their favourites and forget the entry point. However listening again it’s still great. Especially the second side.

It's wonderful listening to one of the greats for the first time. This album just flew by for me. I might have to listen again just to get the full impact.
Rated 10/10
This was the first jazz album I ever listened to. It’s been with me while studying in college, focused at work, entertaining at home, and even just some escapism. I love this album and was happy for it to come across my feed.

More jazz, it’s “good” and I get why it’s on the list but it’s just not for me

This is like, the Jazz album. If you don't like this one, you probably don't like Jazz to begin with. Playing is excellent, line up is stellar as well. Doesn't really ever get boring and there aren't many situations where this is a bad choice to play. Do I have much to say about it? Not really, but it's just really good.

Just an absolutely perfect record. For my personal tastes, think I prefer Sketches of Spain to this record. Some of the tracks sit on the same riffs and themes for a little longer than I'd like, but they're damn good riffs, so it isn't really that big a deal.

Malo mi je ovo previše jazz koji možeš čuti u stomatološkoj ordinaciji. Ali morao je neko izmisliti original koji će se zauvijek imitirati a to je bio Miles.

I can't remember how I've rated other Miles Davis albums in the past but I don't think I've been overly friendly.
On the contrary, this is mellow, chilled and dead cool.
